GameFront Podcast 22: April Fools, Amazon Fire TV, Elder Scrolls Online

We dive into the news of the week on the latest GameFront Podcast — and there’s been some interesting developments.

Up first, check out the video above. That was the April Fools joke perpetrated by Video Producer James Heaney, which had a few fans of his Dark Souls II walkthroughs a bit … upset. James talks a bit about how the video came together, and how delicious it was to get a few people to come close to unsubscribing from the channel.

After that, we discuss Amazon Fire TV, the new set top streaming box from Amazon that’s also going to have a bit of a gaming component. But will it make a big splash? We weigh in.

This week also saw GameFront’s publishing of “No-Win Situation: The Troubled History of Firefall and Red 5 Studios,” an expose in three parts running down the seven-year history of MMO shooter Firefall and the studio behind it.

The Elder Scrolls Online is available to the public today, and Managing Editor Ron Whitaker has been playing in early access as he compiles his impressions, so you’ll get to hear a little about his experiences before his article goes live.

PAX East is next week in Boston, and GameFront will be there in force, both wandering the floor and sitting on a few panels. We’ll have a complete schedule next week.

We’ll be podcasting from PAX next week as well, so if there’s something you want to hear our thoughts on, let us know in the comments.
