GameInformer Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Cover Translated
When the new GameInformer cover was revealed, it put Elder Scrolls fans into a state. There was text in some strange runic language on the back cover, but what did it say?
You can see the text in the image above. Those cunning linguists over at Reddithave done all of the necessary research and translation for us.
Here’s the original text:
DOVAHKIIN DOVAHKIIN / NAAL OK ZIN LOS VAHRIIN / WAH DEIN VOKUL MAHFAERAAK AHST VAAL / AHRK FIN NOROK PAAL GRAAN / FOD NUST HON ZINDRO ZAAN / DOVAHKIIN FAH HIN KOGAAN MU DRAAL / AHRK FIN KEL LOST PRODAH / DO VED VIING KO FIN KRAH / TOL FOD ZEYMAH WIN KEIN MEYZ FUNDEIN / ALDUIN FEYN DO JUN / KRUZIIK VOKUN STAADNAU / VOTH AAN BAHLOK WAH DIIVON FIN LEIN
And the translation?
DRAGONBORN DRAGONBORN / BY HIS HONOR IS SWORN / TO KEEP EVIL FOREVER AT BAY / AND THE FIERCEST FOES ROUT / WHEN THEY HEAR TRIUMPH’S SHOUT / DRAGONBORN FOR YOUR BLESSING WE PRAY AND THE SCROLLS HAVE FORTOLD / OF BLACK WINGS IN THE COLD / THAT WHEN BROTHERS WAGE WAR COME UNFURLED / ALDUIN BANE OF KINGS / ANCIENT SHADOW UNBOUND / WITH A HUNGER TO SWALLOW THE WORLD
Maybe it’s just me, but Skyrim sounds like it isn’t going to be a dull place to hang out. There should be more details in the new issue of Game Informer, which should be arriving in subscribers’ mailboxes any day now.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is set for a November 11 release this year, and will be available on PC, PS3, and XBox 360.
