Gameloft’s Take On StarCraft Hits App Store Thursday (VIDEO)

You wanted to mine crystals and kill aliens with your incredible strategic military mind on your iPhone, right? Because Gameloft thought you did, and it basically had StarCraft up on one monitor and the code for its latest game on another while it was making it.

StarFront: Collision is a three-race sci-fi RTS made for the iPhone, but it looks intensely like StarCraft, so be ready for that one. Even so, the game’s trailer (below) suggests it packs the same level of polish and production values Gameloft is known for, so at least it’ll be nice-looking StarCraft ripoff.

We’re getting StarFront just a week after Gameloft’s Sacred Odyssey: Rise of Ayden dropped in the App Store, a game that did action-RPG more or less exactly like The Legend of Zelda. I’m working on the review for that game right now. Spoiler: I didn’t like it that much.

Anyway, StarFront is due on Feb. 10 in the App Store and we’ll have a review shortly thereafter. Gameloft is saying the game will include a 20-mission campaign and four-player online and local multiplayer, which could potentially be very cool.
