Gamers Spent 40% More Time Playing MW3 on Launch Day than They Did BF3 on Its Launch, and More Comparative Data

Raptr, that epic stats-compiling site over there, has come up with some interesting numbers that you will find compelling if you follow the Battlefield 3 vs. Modern Warfare 3 Internet War to End All Wars. Here we go. These are all Xbox 360 numbers, it should be pointed out.

  • Modern Warfare 3 players spent an average of 6.19 hours playing on launch day, as opposed to 4.45 hours by Battlefield 3 players on that game’s launch day.
  • Modern Warfare 3 players spent an average of 20.45 hours playing in that game’s first week, compared with 17.37 hours for Battlefield 3 players during that game’s first week.
  • Modern Warfare 3 accumulated more hours played ┬áin one week than Battlefield 3 did in three weeks.
  • 53% of Battlefield 3 players are also playing Modern Warfare 3, and only 31% of Modern Warfare 3 plyers are playing Battlefield 3.
  • 81% of Raptr users polled said they were more excited about Battlefield 3 than Modern Warfare 3.

So that’s all very interesting, and it just goes to illustrate Modern Warfare 3′s dominance in more ways than just money. Suck on that, BF3 fans. Your game is clearly inferior.

Whoever wrote this article is completely overlooking the fact that BF3 was slated heavy toward PC – and none of these statistics address or include PC users. If you check steam stats, for example, (http://store.steampowered.com/stats/) there are a mere 70,000 or so who play MW3 multiplayer at any given time. You can see from that statistic alone (compared to the number of people who bought the game) that Xbox360 stats are undoubtedly going to be in favor of MW3 players.

Those numbers for BF3 are pretty good considering how many folks couldn’t even play due to the failure that is Origin.

Perhaps had everything been going according to plan, BF would have dominated.

“Your game is clearly inferior.”

So you said that based on some statics that a blind guy could see coming miles away, talking about fan. I’ve played both games and i can tell, not as a fan boy, 1) both are good; 2) BF3 is no way inferior to MW3 but the other way around 3) MW3 mp is more “arcade like” while BF3 is a little bit more tactical driven.

So i cannot denied MW more “famous” than BF3 right now, that people choose to play ~2 more hours of MW than BF, all this because of that “fame”, but in hell BF3 is inferior to MW3 after what i’ve seen.

Take the time to play play both games and then revise your bias article mate.

Oh look, more meaningless and random BF3 and MW3 stat whoring.

They can both kill themselves in the war of random stats, neither win my wallet.

Happy 10th Anniversary Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Not to mention not everyone has Windows 7 yet and enough RAM to play
Battlefield 3. I am one of the people still on Windows XP with 2.5 gigs of RAM and a Radeon HD 4850. That will change soon though and I will be playing Battlefield 3 not MW 3 –> Suck on that MW 3 Fanboys :P

MW3 poor graphics and mediocre online equals ripped off…again.

For all the 99%ers and real gamers who play on PC where the graphics is just as important as online play, Console players are being cheated by the MW3 current developers. Cheated again. Just like when they fired their orignial creative staff and stiffed them of their money.
