A historic economic simulation for 1 to 4 players. The game is set in the Middle Ages at the time of the 3rd to 7th Crusades. At first, the player takes on the role of a common potter, who begins to make his/her fortune by trading several different goods. At the start of the game, the players options are naturally limited: Only a few towns near the capital can be reached, and the player suffers from an reputation and references. The pubs are full of dangerous characters, who will do most anything if the price is right. The trade routes of these days were by no means safe either, and many a caravan was waylaid while on route to its destination. By establishing friendships with some of the more powerful towns people, the player can secure escorts to protect his caravans and trade routes . Eventually, the player can achieve a certain rank and thus enjoying a distinguished reputation, and will subsequently be asked to take part in important political decisions, influencing taxation etc. directly.
The core element of the game is the integrated trade economy. All goods as well as their purchase and selling prices, amounts of units etc. are both historic and economic accurate. Apart from the trade economy, creating and managing different economic fields are of great importance, as this is the only way of producing goods without too high a trade risk. There are 6 different economic fields with 22 production facilities available. Iron and silver ore can be collected in the mines, while a variety of farms can be built in the valleys. In order to produce highly demanded and thus expensive goods, create a gold smithy or a weaving mill. Exclusive facilities like these are only available with a certain rank and capital however. An upgrade system is supported all the time, which allows for the extension of all economic fields and warehouses.
