“Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction,” said David Sears, creative director at Ubisoft. “This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”

I just found this page, but is this even real? Last thing we know is that Patriots will use Assassin's Creed 3's (4 too) AnvilNext engine. But your page (TheUnbeholden) says that it's Unreal Engine 4.

I'm not saying that it's not possible, it IS possible. Because the team had to rebuild the game (Where they might have switched from AnvilNext to UE4), and we all know that the Rainbow Six games have always used the Unreal Engine series.

And it's weird to see the PS Vita listed there (While the WiiU's not), but considering UE3 games are playable on mobile devices, this may be true.

Again, my question is, is this page legit?

This page was made before I heard it was Anvil. Patriots has been cancelled for now, although we don't know if it will be revived at some point or if RB:6 Siege is a complete replacement.

Old Rainbow Six will never return. Quasi-moral decisions on killing civilians wouldn't even budge a R6 operative. R6 had turned now into a mountain assault shock troops unit no longer an elite CT unit.

Wait what do you mean it won't return? We are getting Patriots this year, sometimes you have to kill one life to save many. Its the heart of what I think is Justice. Not glorified revenge, not a bunch of words in books, but about saving as many lives as possible and making difficult choices... well that and situational awareness, leadership, physical prowess and combat skills.

It will turn into a generic shootout with fancy futuristic tacticool combat equipments with a few binary-like "morality level" decisions that will most likely either result in a different ending or a game restart only. The same ******** philosophy you got in Assassins Creed. It will be a linear campaign focusing on blasting away evil terrorists on US homeland. Original R6 combat personnel will most likely never return except for a bunch of Korean or British members.

The whole "justice and law" idea just does not cut into the R6. There was no glorified revenge either only some teams of men doing their job, stone cold and emotionally stable. Furthermore R6 were not focusing only on force protection, CT and COIN duties but also on covert military ops like in ex-Yugoslavia.

My point is: why would R6 intervene in the US? There are FBI HRT and ST6... R6 has been removed of its internalisation.

Of all the ways to bring the series forward, I think that ubisoft is onto something. Where else are we going to see a game like this? Taking real problems with the growing domestic terrorism, and putting that in a actual counter terrorism game.. how many tactical shooters are around these days? One or 2 besides Rainbow Six, so Ubisoft are actually in a position to address this problem in a video game. Your sentiments about returning veteran operatives is unfounded and largely irrelevant to the quality of the game and your cynicism about bad moral choice systems in games are unfounded until we actually see what its like in game.

I however share your sentiments on the fear of taking away the tactical/squad based combat for a brain dead casual, run and gun type BS that we've seen to much of already. I'm hoping they keep the depth there for the fans of this genre that want it, while giving the option to skip all the pre-mission planning/entry points and directions/equipment selection for the people that don't want to bother with it (so both sides can be happy ect). Also keeping more hardcore elements to the higher difficulties is another way to cater towards both sides.

Rainbow Six specialize in international counter-terrorism, their jurisdiction isn't limited, meaning they fight terrorists of all nationalities.. when there are threats to national security of America and Britain then they are certainly going to be one organisations involved if NATO has a say... because they are the 2 main countries behind NATO, hell the RB6 headquarters is in Britain and most of the operatives are British and American. We actually have Terrorists with depth and plausible extremist views and identifiable backgrounds.. domestic terrorism also holds uncertainty/fear that is a relevant issue to a modern audience that we should explore. I hope you aren't suggesting scrapping all of that.

This is a detour that I am totally on board with.
