Gamescom 2013: Titanfall Playable at EA Booth

If you’re in Cologne, Germany this week, and you’ve got a Gamescom 2013 ticket, you could be among the first to play Respawn Entertainment’s mech-infused debut. During the Electronic Arts press conference this morning, EA announced that, for the first time, Titanfall will be playable on the Gamescom show floor.

EA also showed off fresh Titanfall gameplay during its presser, featuring a new mode, Attrition. In the Attrition demo, one side was tasked with extracting a pilot from enemy territory, first finding the pilot and then escorting him to an evacuation point. Sounds easy enough, but it gets a bit dicey when the opposing team and their 24-foot mechs are there to stop you. Of note in the demo, at one point a pilot jumped out of the mech cockpit and put the mech into “follow mode.” As the pilot continued on foot, the massive mech kept pace, laying down AI fire on enemies throughout.

We should be hearing plenty of Titanfall hands-on impressions later on this week. Stay tuned.
