GameStop To Begin Selling Steam Vouchers

Hey you guys, whatever happened to GameStop’s attempt to enter the digital gaming world? Remember when they were dicking over Deus Ex: Human Revolution-playing PC Gamers because the included Onlive code competed with their own planned service? Hah, yeah, good times that. Then they anticlimaxed by purchasing impulse soon after. So how’d that work out for them? Not good. Seriously, go and see for yourself. They don’t really have a lot worth buying.

Naturally, GameStop isn’t admitting their attempt to muscle into the digital gaming world is a failure, at least not formally. But a source who reached out to Kotaku has confirmed they’re tacitly doing so next week. Starting May 15, so the source says, GameStop will begin selling Steam vouchers at brick and mortar locations. Neither Valve nor GameStop have responded commented on the news, but the photo above, sent by the source to Kotaku, seems fairly definitive.

I go to the shop when i want physical media. If i wanted it on Steam, i would buy it on Steam.

I stopped at my local GS just yesterday to pickup Kingdoms of Amalur and they didnt have it on DVD and offered me a download code. I declined and left. I had only stopped it because i didnt want to have to download it for 4 hours on my crap internet..
