Gaming Today Investigates Bioshock Early Release Claims

Sometime over the last day or so, the internet exploded with the following:

At which point I exclaimed, “CaN I Haz?!”

To which reality responded, “No, you can’t.”

Hardly secret news at this point, but Bioshock was sold to a few lucky gamers who jumped on Toys R Us before they figured out their grave mistake. For the rest of us shlubs, the journey has been a painful one. With so many claims of it being sold early, how possible is it to actually get one of these “secret” releases? I set out to see for myself.

What I discovered was a long list of store managers, completely irate for the amount of calls coming in for this simple mistake. One Gamestop manager confided that I was his 40th call of the day. (They were keeping track) The cultivation of my long search ended at one of the busier Toys R Us in my area.

Note, this is the initial call… this is the first thing I heard when they answered the phone.

“Sigh. If you are calling about the game Bioshock, we are NOT (super pissed here) selling it early. The release date remains August 21. We will not be bullied into selling it to you, so you’ll just have to wait like everyone else…. *pause* How can I help you today?”

Looks like the secret is officially out, which means the large majority of us have another long week ahead before we can get our hands on this amazing title.

Reminds me of the time when I got given the new Rome Total War about a week before its release because I bullied a shop clerk.
