Garry’s Mod For Mac Coming Soon, They Don’t Actually Say
Noncommittal news, everyone! All you Mac owners out there who’ve been dying to play with Garry’s Mod on your preferred OS are in luck, kind of! In a couple of posts on Garry’s Blog that slipped by us because it was posted on Sunday while we were
too hungover to read at “church”, Team Garry updated readers on their progress developing the Mac Version. Long story short? It works! Long story long? Find out below the fold!
If you don’t know, Garry’s Mod is a nonlinear physics game that runs on Source and let’s players frack around as much as they like with gadgets, weapons, and game physics. There’s also Lua scripting, which means user created content and plenty of it, plus mega time wasting goodness like the endless torturing of ragdolls you’ll see in the video below. Literally, you point something at something else to make said something else do hilarious things. It’s easy to play, and as long as you’ve got a game that runs on Source and a Steam account, you can grab it.
So what about that long story long? Basically what you’d expect; it’s still a major pain in the ass to make Mac compatible games. And that means there’s still a few bugs that need to be worked out – mainly UI and graphics – before GM-for-M will be complete. Sure, we’re promised that “it isn’t going to be ages away”, but that’s not actually an ETA. So, you know, thanks for letting Mac users know they might be able to play it before theye’re sending in AARP dues, but hurry it up!
To tide you over, here’s some amusing-and-also-retarded video.
