Gears of War 3 Horde Mode DLC Gets Held Back By ‘Technical Difficulties’

If you were hoping to grab Gears of War 3‘s first Horde mode DLC pack today, I’ve got some bad news for you.

Apparently, technical difficulties are holding back the release of the pack, according to an email VG247 received from Epic. Here’s a quote from that email:

“The Horde Command Pack has been postponed due to a technical difficulty,” said Epic PR’s Dom Carey. “The Epic team are working round the clock to fix this issue, but I wanted to give you a heads up that you will not be able to use your Season Pass to download this DLC until it this is resolved.”

The Horde Command Pack is the first pack that will be available at no extra cost to those of you who bought the Gears 3 Season Pass. It packs new fortifications and maps, among other upgrades to the Horde mode. The first story DLC, titled “RAAM’s Shadow,” is due in December. You can snag both packs even if you don’t have the Season Pass, but they’ll run 800 and 1,200 MS Points, respectively. The Season Pass goes for 2,400 points and is good for the first four DLC packs, which amounts to buying each of them at about a 30 percent discount.
