Gears of War 3 Multiplayer Beta Chainsawed Players 23 Million Times
The Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta ended a couple weeks ago now, but while it was going on, Epic Games reports 1.29 million players joined in the mayhem on its four multiplayer maps and four game modes.
Epic sent around an email to participants running down a handful of stats from the beta, and I have to say that they bode well for Gears fans for when Gears 3 hits shelves in September. In addition to the 1.29 million people who joined in, 145 countries were represented among the players.
Gears 3 players racked up 927 million kills during the beta’s four-week run time, of which 23 million were chainsaw kills and 127 million up-close and humiliating executions. The game saw a total of 23 billion bullets fired, and taken together, the total match time played among all players hit 249 years.
So yeah, I’d say there are going to be quite a few people in Gears of War 3 when it hits, and it shouldn’t ever be tough to find a match.
