GeForce GTX 480M Claiming Speed Record for Notebook GPUs

geforce_gtx_480mGamers have another reason to consider going mobile with a gaming laptop. Seagate unveiled its “world’s fastest” Momentus XT hybrid drive yesterday. Now NVIDIA claims the GeForce GTX 480M is the world’s fastest notebook GPU.

The 48oM chip combines DirectX 11 and NVIDIA PhysX, and 3D Vision technology to render near cinema quality visual effects. This is also the first mobile video chip to integrate NVIDIA’s Fermi architecture. NVIDIA Verde direct notebook drivers keep equipped systems current for the latest performance optimizations and software features.

The first GeForce GTX 480M notebooks will be hitting the market mid June. Slowly but surely, laptops are becoming more competitive with desktop PCs in both performance and price.

Oh, and you can kiss your laptop battery time goodbye if you use a system with one of these chips, they are built for performance not efficiency.
