George Romero Inspires Story for Next Black Ops Zombies Level (TRAILER)

Activision and Treyarch are taking the uber-popular Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops very seriously — kind of. Not only is there a new Zombies map in the upcoming multiplayer expansion pack, Escalation, due on May 3 on Xbox Live and about a month after on the Playstation Network and PC, but that new Zombies map has a story.

And that story is inspired by famed zombie film director George A. Romero. Oh, and he’s a playable character in there as well. So I guess they’re not taking it seriously so much as seriously making it awesome.

Treyarch just hit us with a press release that included a trailer (below), as well as some more tasty tidbits. Sarah Michelle Gellar (of TV’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Robert Englund (best known for his turn as Freddy Kreuger from A Nightmare on Elm Street), Danny Trejo (most recently seen in Machete) and Michael Rooker (most recently in AMC’s “The Walking Dead”) are all joining the cast for the game’s level. That’s right, you get to play as Machete, Romero, Buffy, Kreuger and that guy from Cliffhanger.

We’ve got screenshots for the new Zombies map in another post, but for now, enjoy the trailer.

Download the trailer.
