German Kinder Are Now Allowed To Play Quake

Did you know that Quake, the classic FPD from the first Clinton administration that Windows 95 owners enjoyed in the days when you still needed netscape to peruse the web? Apparently it’s been verboten in Germany since that time, at least for minors, due to having been classified as “indexed” by the Teutonic nation’s Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons, putting it in the same category as Porn, and Mein Kampf. At long last, the German authorities have figured out that you can’t, um, play Quake “one-handed” or use it to start a fascist, totalitarian regime bent on global conquest and the extermination of minorities, and they’ve removed it from the indexed titles list.

You know what this means? German kinder can finally get the video game references in old episodes of Friends.
