Get Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Receive Battlefield 4 Beta Access
DICE and Electronic Arts have confirmed not only that Battlefield 4 is a real, actual thing (after it got accidentally outed on Origin not too long ago), but that you’ll be able to play it a little soon if you’re willing to pay.
The paying you’ll have to do is in getting the “Limited Edition” of Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which comes with beta access to Battlefield 4. Warfighter comes out on Oct. 23, and EA’s press release on the Battlefield 4 beta says that it’ll be available in “Fall 2013″ — so while you’ll be able to play Battlefield 4 earlier than you otherwise would without buying Medal of Honor, it’s still going to be about a year of waiting.
The good news is that the “Limited Edition” seems to be about the only edition readily available for Warfighter, and it won’t cost you any extra dough — just the standard $59.99. The other interesting thing is the timing: Dropping Battlefield 4 in Fall 2013 would line up nicely with the expected launches of next-gen consoles.
Meanwhile, if you’re worried that the announcement of Battlefield 4 means that Battlefield 3‘s days are numbered, at least in terms of DICE’s support of the game, you can rest a little easier. EA and DICE still have plans for at least three more DLC packs for Battlefield 3, for one, and so it seems that DICE intends to support Battlefield 3 for at least another year. So maybe they are numbered, but at least the number is still pretty high.
