Get More TERA Subscription Time With New “Chronoscrolls”
Massively multiplayer games are trying everything they can to deter gold farmers and other online criminals. Diablo 3, for example has the Real-Money Auction House, though the jury’s still very much out on whether or not that was a good idea.
TERA takes a different approach, using items called “Chronoscrolls.” Chronoscrolls are items that can be purchased for real-world cash from the game-makers, then traded for gold on the in-game market. Players who use their extra gold to buy Chronoscrolls can then trade them in for more subscription time. Developers En Masse are hoping that the outlet will give players who want more gold a legitimate alternative, while also benefiting players who are flush with in-game cash.
The system is similar to the EVE Online’s PLEX system; for more information, read the Chronoscrolls FAQ on the TERA website, which goes into a lot of detail. Hopefully TERA players like the change, and gold farmers, phishers, scammers, and other online jerks don’t.
