Get To Know Every Big Release in 2012

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Coming:Feb. 7
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

RPG fans, you should be getting excited for Kingdoms of Amalur. It’s helmed by Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston, with fantasy author R.A. Salvatore writing the lore and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane creating the artwork. Fantasy RPG wet dream, sounds like.

The Darkness II
Coming: Feb. 7
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

Demonic powers mixed with mafioso intrigue and evil secret societies abound in the follow up to the comic book-based The Darkness. The sequel’s biggest new feature is its “quad-wielding” mechanic, which feels great on a gamepad. We’ll see how well it fares on a PC mouse-and-keyboard setup.

Crusader Kings II
Coming: Feb. 7
On: PC

More Medieval strategy action is coming down the PC pipe with Paradox Interactive’s Crusader Kings II. Expect to have your fingers in many pies across this grand strategy title, as you increase your lands, appoint vassals, and take down rivals to gather more territory and power.

Coming: Feb. 21
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

The FPS remake to the classic dark-ass tactical shooter title hits in February and looks to be a good time. Whether Electronic Arts’ franchise reboot is true to its roots remains to be seen, however.

Gotham City Impostors
Coming: February
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

The downloadable, multiplayer-only weirdo Batman title Gotham City Impostors includes neither Batman nor his iconic arch-nemesis The Joker, but it does have players choosing factions and pretending to be those characters in order to fight members of the other faction. It’s a gadget-filled first-person shooter that sounds strange, but strangely delightful.

Coming: February
On: PC

Another FPS taking a page from Vietnam, this one is set before the war that saw American troops struggling in the jungles. Instead, 7554 focuses on the antecedents to that war, with players taking on roles of Vietnam People’s Army soldiers fighting against French colonization in 1954.

Erh…. hey guys at gamefront. Can you play like the demo or a small playthrough, and tell me your opinions on FF 13-2. Graphics wise it didn’t disappoint but it was a let down on gameplay and story. It was very, very linear (FFXIII). FFX was also linear but you could revist places to unlock hidden areas and had a great story, which saved it from being somewhat linear. FFXII wasn’t linear, story was good, was off a bit on character. But FFXIII i just didn’t like. I don’t know if i should buy the sequel or not (remember ffx-2… ugh… I asked for that for birthday and turned it on in front of people, and well a load of embarrassment..)

So much waiting for Reckoning. Also I’d add Ni No Kuni on this list if it were up to me. Hoping that studio ghibli won’t disappoint and we’d get a super jrpg on our hands this year.
