Get To Know Every Big Release in 2012

March

Mass Effect 3
Coming: March 6
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

The final entry in BioWare’s sci-fi role-playing trilogy brings the Reapers to Earth and Commander Shepard, predictably, gallivanting around the galaxy in order to stop them. Cooperative multiplayer, tighter combat controls and a whole bunch more “I should go” moments await in the conclusion of the Shepard arc.

Max Payne 3
Coming: March 6
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

Rockstar Games is reviving Remedy Entertainment’s iconic third-person shooter series, bringing Max back to bring the hammer down on criminal types with lots of slow-motion ass-kicking. Remedy isn’t involved, but Rockstar is bringing in Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto writer Dan Houser, which sounds promising.

Street Fighter X Tekken
Coming: March 6
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

Mixing the universes of two well-loved fighting games, Street Fighter X Tekken sees Capcom uniting with Namco Bandai to bring characters from both franchises together. The game will also make use of Street Fighter’s fighting style, bringing Tekken characters into the 2-D mechanics of Street Fighter.

XCOM
Coming: March 6
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

A new edition in the UFO-fighting tactical strategy franchise is taking a more first-person shooter bent than its predecessors. It’s also coming into the future slightly to 1962 and bringing along a new main character for your alien-blasting enjoyment.

Silent Hill: Downpour
Coming: March 6
On: Xbox 360, Playstation 3

Revisit Silent Hill and all its horrors with Silent Hill: Downpour, plus lots of rain — hence the title. It’ll also have a varied side-quest and puzzle structure based on play style.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
Coming: March 20
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

Taking place concurrently to some of the events in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, Operation Raccoon City follows a team of four Umbrella operatives as they show up to rid the city of surviving witnesses to Umbrella’s horrific actions. It’s a cooperative affair, with each of four characters getting different abilities. Also: zombies again, unlike the latest RE editions.

Ninja Gaiden 3
Coming: March 20
On: Xbox 360, Playstation 3

More super-hard third-person ninja action awaits in Tecmo Koei’s sequel to Ninja Gaiden II. It’ll have reworked game mechanics, some lessened gore, and more fast-and-furious multiple-enemy action.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Coming: March
On: Xbox 360, Playstation 3

More future soldiering technology makes its way into your third-person shooter in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. A near-future military campaign combined with robust multiplayer offerings — similar to the previous installments of the series — adorn the new version.

Erh…. hey guys at gamefront. Can you play like the demo or a small playthrough, and tell me your opinions on FF 13-2. Graphics wise it didn’t disappoint but it was a let down on gameplay and story. It was very, very linear (FFXIII). FFX was also linear but you could revist places to unlock hidden areas and had a great story, which saved it from being somewhat linear. FFXII wasn’t linear, story was good, was off a bit on character. But FFXIII i just didn’t like. I don’t know if i should buy the sequel or not (remember ffx-2… ugh… I asked for that for birthday and turned it on in front of people, and well a load of embarrassment..)

So much waiting for Reckoning. Also I’d add Ni No Kuni on this list if it were up to me. Hoping that studio ghibli won’t disappoint and we’d get a super jrpg on our hands this year.
