Get To Know Every Big Release in 2012

Armored Core V
Coming: April 1
On: Xbox 360, Playstation 3

The focus of the fifth iteration of the Armored Core series will be less about fast reactions and speedy fingers for doing battle with your mech. Instead, you’ll need a tactical mind and to pay attention to the geography of the area to best your opponents.

Prototype 2
Coming: April 24
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

An open-world set-up and more of an eye toward giving players the tools to be a bad-ass living weapon mark Prototype 2. As shape-shifter James Heller, you’re on the hunt for Alex Mercer, the first game’s protagonist, to avenge your murdered family.

The Secret World
Coming: April
On: PC

The secret society-laden free-to-play MMO The Secret World is due sometime in April, promising a mix of supernatural enemies and three secret factions for players to join. The whole point is that there’s a secret world of evil right under the surface of the real world, and being set in our modern reality, The Secret World might be an interesting addition to the MMO market.

To Be Announced Q1

On: PC

Creepy indie title Lucius has players taking control of a Damien-like young son of the devil, tasked with murdering everyone in a mansion by setting up and executing a series of “accidents”. Looks spooky as well as horrific — and awesome.

Twisted Metal
On: Playstation 3

The return of the well-loved vehicle combat series, complete with its crazy characters and cars, heads to the Playstation 3. It sounds like the game will have a heavy emphasis on multiplayer, with a cooperative, two-player mode included as well.

On: PC

Another MMO, TERA runs on Unreal Engine 3 and takes a more action-heavy approach to its gameplay. You’ll need to keep moving, actively dodging attacks, during its fantasy-based combat sessions.

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare
On: Xbox 360

The follow-up to the third-person psychological thriller Alan Wake puts a heavier emphasis on action than story (unfortunately). The game, which is not Alan Wake 2, takes place in the fictional town of Night Springs, which was featured in TV shows seen in the original game.

Erh…. hey guys at gamefront. Can you play like the demo or a small playthrough, and tell me your opinions on FF 13-2. Graphics wise it didn’t disappoint but it was a let down on gameplay and story. It was very, very linear (FFXIII). FFX was also linear but you could revist places to unlock hidden areas and had a great story, which saved it from being somewhat linear. FFXII wasn’t linear, story was good, was off a bit on character. But FFXIII i just didn’t like. I don’t know if i should buy the sequel or not (remember ffx-2… ugh… I asked for that for birthday and turned it on in front of people, and well a load of embarrassment..)

So much waiting for Reckoning. Also I’d add Ni No Kuni on this list if it were up to me. Hoping that studio ghibli won’t disappoint and we’d get a super jrpg on our hands this year.
