Get To Know Every Big Release in 2012

To Be Announced Q2

Spec Ops: The Line
On: The ninth edition in the Spec Ops franchise its PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in the spring. It’s running on Unreal Engine 3, providing squad-based third-person shooter mayhem.

Aliens: Colonial Marines
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

Gearbox’s upcoming title is the canonical sequel to James Cameron’s 1986 film Aliens, and it carries all the great things about that movie into a brand-new first-person shooter adventure. Expect alien queens, facehuggers, pulse rifles, orbital nukes and a lot of dead marines, plus a brand new lighting engine Gearbox is creating specifically for Aliens: Colonial Marines.

South Park: The Game
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

South Park has graced consoles before, both in the first-person shooter and kart racer genres. But never before has it been an RPG — and never before have series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone turned out to write the script. This should be spectacular.

To Be Announced Q3
Tomb Raider
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

Rebooting the iconic action-adventure series, Tomb Raider plays origin story to the famous Lara Croft. It also seems like it puts more emphasis on being gritty and realistic and less on Lara’s huge pixelated rack — which is progress, if you ask me.

Arma III
On: PC

Tactical shooting action in an open world set in 2030 — sounds like a winning combination for a military shooter, and it comes together in Arma III. The PC-exclusive looks to have a healthy multiplayer contingent as well.

Star Trek
On: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3

A third-person action shooter, Star Trek takes its license from the 2009 J.J. Abrams reboot of the classic TV show. The new game bridges the gap between Star Trek and its upcoming sequel, which also will be released in 2012.

To Be Announced Q4
Halo 4
On: Xbox 360

The first non-Bungie Halo title brings back Master Chief and is set after the events of Halo 3 in the timeline of the franchise. What’s more, it’ll kick off a new trilogy, so all the Halo fans will have plenty of reason to buy more Game Fuel Mountain Dew during the next decade.

Erh…. hey guys at gamefront. Can you play like the demo or a small playthrough, and tell me your opinions on FF 13-2. Graphics wise it didn’t disappoint but it was a let down on gameplay and story. It was very, very linear (FFXIII). FFX was also linear but you could revist places to unlock hidden areas and had a great story, which saved it from being somewhat linear. FFXII wasn’t linear, story was good, was off a bit on character. But FFXIII i just didn’t like. I don’t know if i should buy the sequel or not (remember ffx-2… ugh… I asked for that for birthday and turned it on in front of people, and well a load of embarrassment..)

So much waiting for Reckoning. Also I’d add Ni No Kuni on this list if it were up to me. Hoping that studio ghibli won’t disappoint and we’d get a super jrpg on our hands this year.
