Go West Young Man: Enslaved Premium Edition Out Now on Steam

Batman: Arkham Origins will likely consume all of your gaming hours this weekend, but if you’re not a Bat fan and you’re in search of something to play on PC, allow me to suggest Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

Earlier this month, Namco Bandai confirmed that it was porting Ninja Theory’s 2010 sci-fi adventure to PC, but it didn’t provide a release date or pricing. Well, lookee here: Enslaved is available right now on Steam for $20.

For whatever reason, Enslaved sold so poorly (reportedly fewer than 500,000 copies) that Namco Bandai ruled out a planned sequel a few months after launch. Shame, because Enslaved was one of my favorite games of 2010, and if you never got around to playing it on consoles, you owe it to yourself to grab it on PC. The action and platforming elements are fairly basic, but it all looks terrific, and it features some of the very best cinematic storytelling I’ve ever seen in a game. It’s pretty fantastic.

Unfortunately, it appears this is a straight console port, so don’t expect any PC bells and whistles. You will, however, receive the fun DLC add-on, Pigsy’s Perfect 10, with your purchase of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Premium Edition.

Highly recommended.
