  • The Trials of Archimedes

    1. Climb the very tall ladder beside you to emerge from the statue’s helmet and activate another cut scene, then use combination attacks and rage to defeat the large flying monster nearby.
    2. Use grapple throws to clear out the next wave of smaller flying creatures and proceed past the next gateway that recedes to activate the next cut scene, then approach the enormous set of doors directly behind you to pry them open and watch the sequence unfold.
    3. Approach the indicated lever at the side of the cage to push it towards the left and rotate the statue inside until it breaks open the Fury Barrier across the room, then watch the next sequence unfold and enter the portal to arrive at the Trial of Archimedes.
    4. Cross to the enormous doors at the opposite side of the room to pry them open and watch another sequence unfold, then approach the statue inside the cage to take the Eyes of Truth and descend quickly on the platform.
    5. Use the Eyes of Truth to remove the Fury Barrier and pull back on the latch below to ascend again, then eliminate the next wave of enemies with the help of your amulet and special attacks.
    6. Finish clearing the platform to remove the barrier again and pull back on the latch to continue your ascent, then use the same tactics as before with grapple-throws to eliminate the enemies inside the narrow corridor that rises around you.
    7. Wait for the flame bursts to start appearing in the background, then wait for it to momentarily recede and sprint past it to defeat another wave of creatures.
    8. Stay as far away from the flame jets as possible unless you are trying to retreat or draw an enemy into them, then finish clearing the platform to remove another Fury Barrier and pull back on the latch to continue ascending.
    9. Use your amulet and strong attacks to defeat the enormous centaur, then eliminate the remaining enemies in the same manner to pull back on the latch again and continue traveling upwards to finally reach the ledges at the top.
    10. Exit the platform to approach the open set of doors on the right and press the indicated button to shut them, then rotate the cage so that the purple lens faces the Fury Barrier and return to the Delos Lantern.
    11. Make sure the statue inside the cage is also facing the Fury Barrier to watch a sequence unfold, then climb the steps in front of you to acquire the Antikythera Mechanism on the right and open the doors marked with a sun symbol behind the cage to activate the next cut scene.

C.B – The Decay and Heal power is to be used for making or breaking objects to be used by Kratos. You can heal a broken bridge or break some object to be used in the game. As it is the use of this power is indicated on the top right. At times you might have to use this power just partially for your use. try it out its fun and believe me later in the game the effects of heal are amazing.

Sam- yes it is at times confusing how to shoot the amulet but the easiest way to use it that when ever you will press L2 the object that is to be shot at will glow very clearly, so till the time you do not find a object glowing bright and clear you need to move around and find the right place, sometimes it might be too close to the object and sometimes it can be far off.

Just platinumed it today. It wasn’t too hard but as always there were a couple of fights that were pretty aggravating. The Trial of Archimedes was actually so hard even on the easier settings that it received a patch, though I think they made a mistake by patching it on Titan mode since the really hardcore players perhaps understandably think they’ve been given unwanted help. I though was grateful as it was difficult enough even WITH the patch. On the flip side, it’s a real shame that there was no Challenge of the Gods/Zeus/Hades/whatever this time around, as that would have been the perfect place to put such a difficult task and gamers who just wanted to finish the story wouldn’t have had to do it if they didn’t want to, while hardcore fans would have still leapt at it.
