Gone Home Priced and Dated, Comes Out Later This Month
The Fullbright Company has announced that its upcoming first-person exploration mystery game, Gone Home, is slated for release later this month.
Gone Home tells the story of the Greenbriar family through the perspective of their daughter who returns home after spending a year at college, only to find her family missing. It’s up to her to discover what happened to her family by sifting through the clues left behind at her family home. Here’s what we wrote about it a year ago:
There is a sort of foreboding nostalgia at work in Gone Home, despite the game being entirely exploratory. A lonely TV still on in the middle of an abandoned living room, or a desk lamp turned on at a desk in the middle of a darkened room, paints a picture of abandonment. There is the sense that nothing is quite right, but there’s no real knowledge as to why. Only certain clues, such as warnings left by the protagonist’s sister Sam, hint at something being off about the house.
The IGF-nominated Gone Home will be available on Steam for $19.99 on August 15, 2013.
