Grab a Tribes: Ascend Spinfusor of Your Very Own! (GIVEAWAY)

We’re all out of spinfusor codes – thanks for participating, and we hope you frag a few folks for us!

Yesterday saw the release of one of our most anticipated games of the year – Tribes: Ascend. After seeing the classic map Rain Dance at PAX East, we couldn’t wait to strap on our jetpacks and get busy playing. Now we’ve teamed up with the folks at Hi-Rez Studios to bring you a spinfusor of your very own.

The medium Spinfusor is a weapon for the soldier class. You can unlock one in the game, or you could just have Game Front give you one. Here’s how to make that happen:

  • Post a comment below telling us about the first time you played a Tribes game.
  • Make sure you include a valid email address in the email field.
  • Be one of the first 175 users to comment (limit one code per person).

It’s that simple! We’ll be emailing codes out over the next few days, so make sure to get your comment in!

I got a beta key about 5 months ago and had a blast playing this game. It’s one of the best first-person shooters I’ve ever had the joy of experiencing, and I play it all the time. My first experience with the game was actually pretty easy for me to get into, skiing felt natural and using projectile weapons was something I had experience with in other games. I was actually better at using the Thumper grenade launcher than I was at using the Assault Rifle at first.

My first game featured me grabbing the flag at probably 1-2mph due to me sucking at skiing. Nothing scared me more than when that fast techno beat kicked in and I got chased by 5 enemy players. This game is so much fun.

The first time I played Tribes was the original first game in middle school. My assigned “homeroom” teacher that year happened to also be the computer lab teacher. During homeroom and on other occasions, he would start up Tribes 1 on a few computers and those who were interested would play, and we’d have a mini-LAN party with jetpacks and spinfusers for our 45 minutes of homeroom. Regardless of how they didn’t quite live up to the first game, I still bought and played both Tribes 2 and Tribes Vengeance.

I’ve used to play Tribes 2 in its time, this was really a ramp-up gameplay from olds Unreal Tournament and Quake 3. Tribes: Ascend is really a great successor even if I still suck I skiiing !

My older brother was the only person I knew who had a PC back in 1999, at least one that could play games. I remember hopping on there spamming VGS and generally just flying around not knowing what the hell was going on. After a while of ignorance, I stumbled upon Particle’s RPG mod. Let me tell you, that was a blast and I only hope that in time, HiRez will have mod support so that those creative people out there can get to work and realize what their imaginations come up with.

I never got into Tribes 2 or any others until Vengeance came around. Only after a while and the player base was pretty small. What I miss most about T:V is the lack of a grapple. That changed the pace of movement so quickly it was difficult to adapt. It made the gameplay so exciting.

I entered beta couple months ago and I was really curious about the game. After couple of hours I was fascinated about its dynamics. I played mainly as scout so now I’m sticking with soldier, Spinfusor will be a nice gift!

I’ve been playing Tribes: Ascend since the beta and I have to say it’s been a blast. The first time I played I noticed the sense of speed that you get when playing one of the lighter classes and even the medium ones, and I thought to myself whao a sniper would be awesome… Taking people out midair, or at high velocity especialy those pesky flag stealers :) . Still trying to get better. I will say this though it’s hard to switch from a game like MW to the fast paced action of a game like Tribes.
Recently I’ve been using the soldier more, for the offensive power he brings, but the Assault Rifle isn’t very good IMHO so I’m pretty much using grenades and the thumper, the Spinfusor should be a nice addition.

The first time I played Tribes was years ago. I hated it. No idea what I’m doing, flying everywhere and I don’t even know.

Hit something? Please.
I had to start with “See something.”

It’s ok now though. It’s all ok.

Looks cool, play cool, is cool… I ahve been a pc gamer since the days of posting and blogging about E3, via 1up.com… Finally bought my own computer, bought a 2008 graphics card, to support my PCI Exspress slot, and a 250GB hard drive… Jumping back and forth from developing and creating games, to playing games, Tribes Ascend, is a hole boat load of fun… I should of said but load… Anyways, you can also catch me on my game company, via together knowledge. I hope I get a key… Oh, and thanks gamefront, for all of the files, and videos, that we can download… Maybe you guys can give us tips, on how we can get monetized on youtube, lol…

I accidentally found out about Tribes:Ascend while browsing through a gaming magazine. I never had the chance to play any of the original Tribes games so I reluctantly said that I will give it a shot; I gotta say I was impressed.

It reminds me of the first time I played Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. I love the mechanics and I love the fact that it is difficult (or at least I find it, dunno about the veterans).

This game really is something else if you look at how saturated the market has become with modern military shooters. I can say for sure I will keep playing Tribes and that my bf3 installation will be gathering dust for a long while now.

The first time I played Tribes? Hmm… it was years ago, somewhere in 2002. After countles hours playing UT I finally got my hands on a copy of Tribes 2, a game I heard/read so much about.
After installing and registering my account I thought myself: “Your are a long-time FPS player, how bad can it be?”

Well, it was bad… and I mean really BAD. I was blown away by the scale of the game. I actually didn’t know how to ski at first, so I ran, like in all the other FPS games. And all Tribes fans know what that means… Found myself on a large map in a 32vs32 game (never saw so many players before) and got my a** kicked/shot/run over and blown up time after time. But I was so fascinated, that this didn’t stop me from playing another round… and than another one, and than one more. Eventually I found out how to ski and the game started to be fun :)

I loved Tribes 2 for its complexity, steep learning curve, countles possible tactics, speed and for the fact, that one can’t really master it. I also hated it for the same reasons…
Thanks to Hi-Rez Studios I now have Tribes: Ascend to love and hate in the same way… and play another round… and another one… and than maybe one more…

I first played tribes 2 at my friends house when I was 15 on a PC that could barely run it. Back then we had no idea that 15 frames per second wasn’t ideal for an fps game and we mostly just flew around the map thinking it was a skiing simulator with guns.

The first time I played a Tribes game was on my Windows ME (yeah that one) machine. I was a kid back then, and it was the first time I had come across an only-multiplayer game, so it took me a while to realize I could only play it over an internet connection (and I had dial up).

Apart from Virtua Cop, Tribes was my favorite childhood FPS.

Hey there;
I was introduced into Tribes years ago when my brother brought Tribes: Vengeance home from a trip. We probably played the campaign and online for weeks and weeks.

Recently, I heard Tribes: Ascend came out, but not only was it out of closed beta, it was free! I’ve been playing recently, and Hi-Rez Studios have made an awesome game. It’ll probably stay that way, too.

I saw a couple of Tribes Ascend videos on Youtube and was very desperate to play, unfortunately I thought my PC would’t handle it as it looked too demanding. As it turns out my pc can and I am now enjoying the game a lot. The first game I played was a round of CTF, 16 on 16, fully action-packed, me grabbing the flag and returning it home on the first try.

Shick

On April 28, 2012 at 9:17 pm

My first memory of a Tribes game was Tribes 1 (maybe Starsiege) while I was a wee little lad, I believe. I was having a good time on a map using a gravbike but I was playing a demo that would only allow me a few minutes. Honestly, the memory was very vague, I just remember that I crashed a tons of times on the bike and the time limit was always against me.
My clearest memory was with Tribes 2, which I gladly bought. I know most of the basics but never really needed them since the only multiplayer I played is with my brother (which I never played against) and bots so I rarely need tricks like skiing to get around, I just use the vehicles.
Now with Tribes: Ascend, I actually played against people. Since HL2: DM, I started playing multiplayer and I’ve became well-seasoned. I can outrun most pathfinders using my soldier and I ski with precision and speed.
Hell, if given a good opportunity, I could outski a pathfinder using a juggernaut but I prefer the soldier’s weapons over the crappy fusion mortar.
I know this is late but better late than never, right?
(We need a VGS command for “You’re too slow!”)

I first played Tribes with Tribes 2. I generally enjoy fast paced FPS games and really loved the movement and accuracy required in Tribes. I think Tribes was the first game where I came to enjoy playing every role as needs cropped up on the team. Don’t think that feeling was really recaptured until TF2.

I am not a fan of shooters in general, but I definitely can approve tribes. My first encounter was during the tribes ascend beta. I have grabbed a pathfinder and started running around. I don’t think that I was successful the first game, but I was quick to find out that there are very few experiences that are as satisfying as getting away with enemy flag at insane speeds while a bunch of other people are trying to blow your socks of.

Haha, when I was four years old, (1998) my brother got a computer with this game starsiege. I was addicted completely to the game, beat it several times over on both human campaign and cybrid campaign, as well as playing the multiplayer for ages on end. I was devastated when the cd was lost, so I looked up on google “Starsiege Download” This is when I had a bunch of results showing me “Starsiege: Tribes” I ignored it, and continued to look for the beloved gem that occupied my childhood. I finally gave way to google’s pressure, downloaded the game, became addicted. At 10 years old I started to mod the game and play around with it. I never really played Tribes 2, and I hated tribes vengeance. Now that tribes ascend is out, there are some flaws that could be fixed, and some tribes essentials that could be added (command map, better tactical structure) but so far I am enjoying the hell out of the game. It’s great to see some Tribes veterans playing ascend, it kind of brings me closer to home.

I only heard about original Tribes from a certain avid gamer, didn’t try it as I had a 61 mhz computer back then XD

Tribes: Ascend is my first Tribes game, and I just picked it up 2 weeks ago. It seems to have a lot of depth to explore both in strategy, skill and load-outs. Having a spinfusor would really be handy :)

first time playing tribes, was back in 98, my dial-up connection couldn’t handle the huge maps so I had to go back to quake.

By my count, even though this is rather late, you still have quite a few codes left to give away. If you still have them, I could definitely use one.

As for the first time I played tribes, it would be around Tribes 2′s release back in March of 2001.

I first played Tribes 2 in college. It was fun to play over LAN with friends between classes! I like that tribes is more 3 dimensional than other shooters.

I used to play Tribes Vengeance, but the new Ascend is so much better. I love how it looks and the multiplayer game play is crazy!

At first I was unimpressed by this game. It was very different from most shooters I’ve played before.
Then I came back, tried a few things differently and have been having a great time! Definitely a new feel to the types of games I’ve played.
Very fun!

I really like the game, it is something new and also addictive, and the classes are pretty well balanced and implemented.

On May 3, 2012 at 4:01 pm

I grew up on Tribes 2, though most of my entertainment came from skiing down mountains and piloting those little jet bikes around. I typically couldn’t be bothered with objectives or enemies; just let me fly around as fast as possible, and I was happy. I was also in the minority (perhaps) of Tribes fans who actually really enjoyed Vengeance; I played through the campaign more times than I can count. Needless to say, I was stoked but also a bit nervous when I heard Tribes was back as F2P; those games have had pretty negative connotations in the past. However, after playing Ascend for the last week or so now, I don’t have a single complaint. It perfectly captures the Tribes experience, and while buying unlocks with gold is a bit quicker, its skill rather than the depth of your pockets that wins out here. Excellent game, highly recommended!

The first time I played Tribes was way back when the very first Tribes came out and I still to this day relish the memories of multiplayer Tribes gaming back then and when the mods started coming out with new vehicles like carpet bomb jets and the like it just got that much better it was one of the easiest games to mod back then and playing and installing mods was pretty easy to. All in all Tribes became one of my absolute favorite games to play back then and is one of my all time favorite in history.

The first time I played a Tribes game was a few days ago. However for me it is impossible to kill anything with the assault rifle, as it does minimal damage and it’s very hard to hit someone with. It still looks fun though, so with this weapon I bet I could do better!

that look cool and powerfull.

I didn’t realise how addictive this game was, and how long it will take to master this piece ok work.

This game is purely awesome. Many years ago I played first Tribes and I´ve got to say that this game is as great as 1st one. Sadly as every game even here paying players have quiet and advantage, but still great.

Still available? Sick game, the large maps are traversed quickly but also offer the advantages of big battlefields.

First time I played Tribes was the demo for the first Tribes game which was amazing. I’ve played that demo for months, if not years on the few available maps. Mid-air spinfusor kills became a true skill to master. Good times. It’s the community and the mods that really made the game interesting, even the demo with limited resources had heavily modded servers available. And the first clan I ever formed was in Tribes; [BAD] or Blood Angels of Death. (I was quite young :) ) To this day BAD is part of my e-mail adress, as the one I wanted wasn’t available. Tribes has had quite an influence on me in many aspects. Sadly I did not enjoy sequel games at all, am hoping Ascend will change this, as i’ve heard good things.

Well the first time that I played, I used a Pathfinder in TDM on that one dark map with the huge cliffs. I went 19-1 the first game, and then 17-2 the second. I thought I was just really good, but then I went to CTF and completely bombed. I think I was 3-21 or something.

I guess I still have a lot to learn xD I love the light spinfusor, but also like the armor on the soldier (no one-hits on me), so the soldier spinfusor would be perfect!

Gotta Go Fast: The Movie: The Game (Tribes) is probably my favorite FPS right now.

Hi!
Tribes is simply awesome… i have been playing for a while, and if i remember correctly, my very first game granted me a killing spree for no reason other than beginners luck i suppose…

it was with the soilder rifle… which is quite unlikely XD

anyways… i really need this thing because i am moving in to spinfusors instead of fast firing weapons.

Nomad

Been playing a fair bit of CTF the past few days, after a friend persuaded me to install it. Jugg/raider mostly, as I don’t quite have the aiming down yet for projectiles, but ‘sposions are easier to hit with. Took a while to understand what to do with skiiing and such, but once you begin to understand it its one of the most graceful ways to move around in any game I’ve played.
