Grab Skyrim’s Hearthfire on Xbox Live Right Now

The second piece of downloadable content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available for download right now if you’ve got an Xbox 360 copy of the game.

Hearthfire, as the name suggests, is all about your Skyrim home. In the new (much cheaper) DLC pack, you can build yourself a house from the ground up, “from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armory, alchemy laboratory, and more.” You can also deploy guards and adopt children, if, you know…that’s something you wanted to do.

On Xbox Live, Hearthfire will run you 400 MS Points, which is the equivalent of $5. No word just yet as to when the DLC will be arriving on PC, although as far as Xbox exclusivity is concerned, those deals usually run for 30 days. With the last Skyrim DLC, Dawnguard, it was more than a month before PC players got a chance to take on the title’s vampiric storyline — likely due to technical issues, it seems.

As for when Playstation 3 players can expect to start playing Bruce Wayne to a bunch of little Skyrim kids, well — that might be a while. Bethesda posted a forum update last week admitting that Dawnguard might never make it to PS3 because of technical problems. We’re not sure if that reaches to Hearthfire as well, but we’ve reached out to Bethesda to find out.

Game Front is on-site at PAX Prime all weekend (Aug 31-Sep 2), bringing you daily news, hands-on previews, interviews and pictures. Stay tuned for more PC gaming-focused coverage!
