GTA IV DLC Will Be How Big !?

gta-iv1.jpg

Microsoft has been touting the fact that the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV will include exclusive downloadable content (which they paid handsomely for). But we still haven’t gotten any specific details on just what that content will consist of. Well it seems an upcoming CVG magazine special contains a passage that¬†explains with just how big the new DLC is expected to be. To summarize: it’s not just big, it’s freakin’ huge! The passage explains:

“Of course, to call games as vastly ambitious as Vice City or San Andreas mere ‘expansion packs’ seems childish, but nevertheless, the downloadable content (DLC) coming for the Xbox 360 version of IV has repositioned those games in just this way. DLC so far has meant the odd new car, jumper of bit of horse armour, but GTA IV is set to completely redefine the idea with expansions that are to GTA IV what Vice City or San Andreas were GTA III. Yes, Rockstar is clearly hinting at new downloadable cities; and the chances of them being London, Vice City or SA again are slim to none. So that’s new as in brand new. GTA IV’s Liberty City is the beginning. Think about that and be excited.”

That’s right. They’re saying the DLC will include whole new cities that will be comparable to the entire scope of the past games. Of course, this could all just be some incredible exagerration — the magazine is put largely sponsored by Microsoft, after all — but I’m hoping this rumor turns out to be true.

360 SUCKS

On April 17, 2008 at 4:41 pm

lol who cares… its only 10 hours of extra gameplay thats for the price they are gna charge and wats the point in the new content wen u cant play it online each other? mircrosoft your a failiure like uve alwayz been. more people actually bought the PS3 version of gta IV than 360 ha!

pojo

On April 17, 2008 at 5:11 pm

10 hours of extra gameplay is pretty good considering almost all ps3 games last four hours

JD

On April 17, 2008 at 5:11 pm

How can more people have bought one consoles version of a game than another when the game isn’t even out yet?

You are an idiot, your post was about as useless as having a separate blue tooth in each ear.

Name me one PS3 game that only lasts 4 hours.

You fanboys are pathetic. Maybe you losers should get both systems like any real gamer too. But then again, judging by your immature, arrogant statements, you still live with mommy and daddy and they won’t buy you them both.

I own a 360 & a PS3

On April 17, 2008 at 5:37 pm

360 SUCKS: Fail! So far the majority of GTA IV pre-orders have been for the Xbox 360. Even after taking into account the PS3 was released a year after the 360 it’s been outsold (percentages you know).

Raw

On April 17, 2008 at 6:19 pm

Well anyway, flamewar aside, i don’t think that the PS3 isn’t getting any DLC. I believe that maybe, if they release new cities, the biggest one, let’s say, San Andreas, will be Xbox 360 exclusive, while the others will be available for both systems. By the way, i have both the Box and PS3 so I ain’t taking any sides.

Scrop

On April 17, 2008 at 8:44 pm

I think its obvious that anyone pro-PS3 posting a comment here is completely and utterly jealous… I mean, how couldn’t they? A next-gen San Andreas or Vice City? I’d be jealous too, but I already have a 360

UltDestruction

On April 17, 2008 at 9:34 pm

@ Scrop – Your 100% correct on that one i think mate :D

This is great news(because i own a 360 :P ) and i think that by doing this its going to give us 360 gamers a lot more to do.

I mean, more cars? MORE CARS? Jesus, im loving this. :D

RandyGandy

On April 17, 2008 at 10:10 pm

i would laugh if the exclusive downloadable content was stuff they couldn’t fit on the dvd9 and was in the ps3 version

jds

On April 17, 2008 at 10:13 pm

@scrop

Yep, agreed.

I have both systems and my PS3 never gets turned on unless there is a system update I need to get.

Anyhow, the 360 version will outsell the PS3 version IMO due to the sheer number of gamer’s friends on Xbox Live compared to the pitiful PS3 ntwk. I mean, Live does it so much better!

Microsoft, unfortunately, turned me into an xbox 360 hater. I was one of those people who, for some reason or another, kept getting failing units. When the third one RROD’d, I decided the next one is going on ebay and I was abandoning the idea. I might consider giving it another go if Microsoft FINALLY fixed there screw ups. Well?… Did they?

Oh, hah, I forgot to say. My PS3 gets worked over pretty hard. Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4, Resistance fall of man, Fear, Oblivion, Uncharted, WarHawk, etc. The only games I regret owning are motor storm and Heavenly sword.

I’m a PS3 owner and, being honest, of course this news sucks. BUT…I’ll wait on getting too upset over it until I see how much Micro$oft is gonna rape your wallet for those DLCs.

MikeReiner

On April 17, 2008 at 10:50 pm

This somewhat saddens me. I don’t own either system yet, but I’m getting a PS3 first (Yeah MGS4 is drawing me in, I can’t resist it.)

But I’ll probably pawn the PS3 version of GTA IV once I get a 360 (that is, when MS gets their together regarding hardware failures)

So yeah, not a fanboy of either side, I want both!

Dude… firstly, to the flame war dorks. There is no war! Buy both systems.
Secondly, for the people that CANNOT read. This isn’t going to be a city you have played before. Thus the whole BRAND NEW statement in the article. Argh!!ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh morons!!

That defective overprice piece of crap 360 is gonna RROD at the friggin loading screen of GTA IV, regardless of the overpriced DLC. Also…the xbox live service is gonna crash just like it did at xmas time. I just put the “RROD curse” on your piece of , leaf blower sounding, 360.

I love how people about 50$ a year for live. Are you serious, that comes out to 4 dollars a month. PSN is garbage. WOW! it’s free, WOW! is sucks. You get what you pay. I do understand where you are coming from though, you probably work at gamestop making your minimum wage. I spend 18 dollars a day just to park to go to work every day in downtown seattle. 4 dollars is nothing now a days. i understand how 4 dollars a month might be out of your price range. Maybe ask daddy for a larger allowance. Get real, PS3 fanboys……

Just a hunch but I think that DLC will most likely be same city, but new cars and a new character – with missions (probably characters you’ve seen in the game). It’ll show a different perspective of the city and missions as you play from the viewpoint of another character.

I could imagine an entire subsect of missions from characters, and since the models and most content is already there -it’s easy to do but adds a lot more to it.

crazyblackman is obviously one of the people not smart enough to know that this is HUGE. Don’t you understand? Downloadable cities. This isn’t the little download packs you get on PSN that add 1 new feature. I would gladly pay $20 for a good DLC like this if it adds 10% more to the game. Just because you can’t afford it doesn’t mean that those of us with jobs can’t.

crazyblackman

On April 17, 2008 at 11:59 pm

@ L33tMasta

Look dude…the average gamer has never even completed the previous versions of GTA. Soooo…Downloadable content is nice IF you ever finish the original version of the friggin game. I’m old school about games. Make the best game you can make and add the extra stuff that you couldn’t fit on that crappy 9 gig dvd to the next game. But don’t charge me extra for stuff that could have fit on a 50 gig bluray disc. You guys are plain suckers. Who cares about the DLC that a desperate MS paid 50 mill for? I’ll take the original disc and be just as happy. I guarantee that you will be shipping your 360 off for repair by the 10th mission anyway. I could have afforded a 360, but I work hard for my money and I’m too friggin smart, junior.

owning both systems im gunna go for 360 version for sure, better online service by a mile, 50 buks a year, that is nothing at all, people who own systems and buy games regulary should be able to afford the price of online… ohh and the point of the post, i rekon the dlc will come in the form of another island, that could be the size of a city, im not sure.

I have a Wii, 360 and a ps3. I play them for different reasons. My online play is done on the 360 of course, and my ‘game experimenting’ happens on the ps3 and when certain ppl are over I get the Wii out. Again, experimenting on the ps3 really just means getting my money’s worth for it. Plus, it looks nice sitting underneath my 50″ plasma. My wii-360 get to sit next to my 52″ upstairs :)

GabeP

On April 18, 2008 at 1:58 am

I love how these things turn into either a console war or a pissing contest.

“Plus, it looks nice sitting underneath my 50″ plasma. My wii-360 get to sit next to my 52″ upstairs”

Really dude? Do you think you’re getting respect for claiming about your multiple big screens and consoles? On topic, it’s lame that us PS3 owners wont have the chance to pay a lot of cash to get a little more stuff but we also have a much more reliable system that’s truly next-gen. IF your Box doesn’t crap out on you in 4 years you’ll have spent $200 for the Live service. Yeah, totally worth it, when you could’ve thought about how things will be in the long run.

And to you guys bragging about having more then one system, I’m glad your parents can afford to buy it for you. I went with just the PS3 because I didn’t want to deal with an inferior machine that I’d have to get fixed all the time. Some kids can’t have more then one system because they aren’t spoiled es. If you have more then the one then why not take the time to post informative comments instead of wasting everyone’s time?

i work 3 days a week for 12 hours total at my campus’ fast food restaurant and i can afford both… this is stupid though… the ps3 one is gonna look very sightly better/different (i think the lighting that developers use on the 360 makes the differences moot), and the 360 one is gonna have more stuff. the 360 wins this round if you dont care about the tiny differences… so get over it…

quite a funny read this argument about whats better but the fact and the matter is the 360 is the daddy so what about the RROD they did sort it out with new chipsets and cooling and they went out there way to lose money buy giving out extended warrenty

live is nothing you can pick it up on ebay for like less than half price and the community is excelent while your psn well is there anything good about it

DLC = ps3 no matter what you say were getting new maps, cars etc and your not!

there now you dont need to argue

“I honestly recommend the closing of comments on anything that could be a flamewar!this is just stupid.”

While I can see where you’re coming from, we tend to try to leave comments open on every post for our readers to utilize. Sometimes, some editing of comments is necessary.

However, this type of post seems to be the most often abused. For whatever psychological reason, people seem wedded to their console of choice. Regardless of which one they own, they can’t be content to simply praise their console. They have to denigrate all the others available.

Abusive comments will be deleted at our earliest opportunity. Comments laced with profanity will be similarly edited or deleted. Play nice!

Personally, I own both the 360 and the PS3. Both are excellent pieces of hardware. Luckily, I haven’t suffered any hardware problems with the 360 yet. I will say that I put more time in on the PS3 than the 360, but that’s mostly because I prefer the shape of that controller to the one on the 360. That leads to me buying most multiplatform titles on the PS3.

Best games coming out for 360? Name me 5 exclusive games that are amazing. (If you say halo, you auto-fail). I own a 360, but the PS3 is outselling it, It reached 10 million units sold months faster than 360 did. As far as best games are on 360, I consider Final Fantasy to be one of the best franchises ever…and is 13 coming out for 360? I think not. What about Metal Gear? Also a negative. Alright, I own all three systems, and I am not trying to impose my greater wealth against anyone or brag about the fact that I can choose what system to play and when to play it.

From my experience, the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live is far better than my current PS3 experiences. The PS3 version of Call of Duty 4 is weaker in graphical performance (Using my 720p HDTV to judge) and the online is just plain rediculous. You pay $50 for Xbox Live in order to have a reliable and enjoyable experience. If little kids happen to get annoying, the Xbox 360 headset (which comes with a mic, while the PS3 requires you to use inferior sound quality, or otherwise seperately purchased PC devices) has this handy little mute function! Problem solved!

Another bonus to Xbox Live is content is released weeks ahead of the PS3 version. The PS3 has its well share of annoying gamers on it as well but I could not mute them for weeks until the patch was finally released.

To be honest with you all, I did originally purchase my PS3 to play Blu-ray disks since the HDDVD format failed. I’m not overly sad about that, either, because I only spend $150 on my HDDVD player from Amazon and they refunded me $50 once the format failed! Amazon is great, by the way.

Now, the PS3 has potential. It’s processor is nothing short of amazing! But it’s lack in a cost effective development kit and the lack of consoles sold in the US market cause many developers to choose the Xbox 360; hence more games and better games for the 360.

The RROD issue is something of the past. It involved poor heat dissipation designs and bad heat pipe placements. However, Microsoft has covered ALL Xbox 360′s with a 3 year warranty, for free! You can’t beat that. My Xbox 360 is nearing the 1.5 year old mark and still has had no issues whatsoever. Many failures, while maybe not a majority of them, were caused by gamers that were ignorant of the fact that a console which produces heat can not be placed inside a cabinet, which in effect causes a microwave effect. Luckily for the PS3, it is large enough to enforce being set outside of most TV stands and entertainment sets.

That is my educated and experienced response to the masses. Oh and before anyone jumps on my parents, I live with my girlfriend in my own apartment, making $14 an hour at a job that I myself have obtained with my own very hard work and education.

Thanks.

You know what? I’ll pay my $50 bucks a year for the far superior Xbox Live.
I actually sold my PS3 after about 2 months because I just wasn’t impressed.
The controller feels so cheap, and while lots of games looked very nice, it just didn’t measure up to my 360.
But hey, to each his own.

Theres gonna be 20 hours of DLC. All you PS3 Fanboys don’t cry about it.

I know its sad that you don’t have that many games and GTA was your only hope but itll all be over soon. Bad enough First Person Shooters Dominate on the 360. PS3 shouldn’t even have FPS they play like .

Playstation is doing nothing about Advertising. Theres already polls stating 360 has already sold more GTA IVS then PS3. So yes Fanboys you will have MGS4 but we will have Gears of War 2. A game thats gonna dominate PS3 whole 08 lineup.

Mr Greensleeves

On April 18, 2008 at 11:45 am

PS3= great for graphics on some games (the processor is just too damn hard to code for apparently), and i must admit six axis kicks ass when i was playing heavenly sword, but the online gaming is so so poor i was waiting on average 15mins sometimes for just a simple deathmatch to start as there were not enough players but hey you cant complain about something you get for free LOL.

360= good graphics but you wont get as much content as PS3 has blu-ray cds (50gig), xbox live is really good gaming environment the whole thing just works and its so simple to use as its a paid service so they can spend money on upgrading servers and new firmware unlike the latter PS3. Also there are just so many good games coming on the 360
Saints row – 360 only
Gears of war 1-2 – 360 only
Dead rising – 360 only
Fable 2 – 360 only
Too Human – 360 only
Ninja gaiden – 360 only

I would say the only good games on the ps3 are little big world and thats when it comes out, UT3 and Heavenly sword oh and the PS3 eye games set for the future look awesome but 360 spanks PS3′s ass when it comes to great games.
And PS3 spanks 360′s ass for sheer game content and graphics and that when developers actually bother to code it right.

How about a Kid Safe Version?

On April 18, 2008 at 3:12 pm

Before you scoff, hear me out….

Advantages of having a kid-safe mode:
(1) More than doubles the number of buyers. How many parents won’t buy this because of inappropriate content? Short answer… alot. Certainly enough to pay for the “added production costs” at least 10 times over.
(2) Gets certain political parties off your case. Why not spin a little positive self image? It can’t hurt.
(3) Would be EASY to do. Look at GTA3:SA and GTA:VC. Using user-created editors, its not all that hard to do (at least for most things).
(4) The kid-safe mode is a menu setting so hardcore games would be totally unaffected.

These are what I would like to see in a kid-friendly version:
– Free roam, no missions (or maybe kid-safe missions? that would be significantly more work which I am not asking for)
– No weapons. (hey, its supposed to be kid friendly!)
– No prostitutes, drugs, sex-clubs, sex-stores, inappropriate billboards, etc
– Dialog without curse words and inappropriate inuendos. (Remember, the producers have a script so this would be easy to read through and mark them)
– People can be struck by cars, but after a few seconds get up and run away
– No parent-password. Lame idea. Let the parents parent!

Sound boring to you? Yeah, not like the “real” thing, but I know my daughters enjoy my edited-to-be-kid-safe GTA3:SA and will play it for hours. Even I myself enjoy a good romp through the city doing crazy jumps and stunts.

Rockstar, you do this and I’ll buy 2 copies! Otherwise… you gotta count me out no matter how great it is. :(

Am I the only person who thinks a Console war should be completely about the capability of the console and not the games? Games can be ported to another console, and are the decision of the game companies. With ps3 sales increasing, game developers are getting more comfortable with it. So from a hardware capability point, the ps3 blows the others out of the water. From a Live VS PSN stand point, Live wins… for now. Home has the potential to drastically improve the quality of the PSN and pretty much destroy live.(as an integrated part of the playstation network) I don’t hate any of the consoles, they all have positives and negatives about them. The Wii is for nonsensical fun, the xbox360 currently has a nice library, the ps3 has the potential for insane graphics. On the negatives, the wii has poor graphics and is stuck in last generation graphical quality. The 360 has had absolutely horrible hardware quality that results in way to many failures. The ps3 needs a lot more games, especially more exclusives like Final Fantasy 13

Billy Bob Bo Jangles

On April 18, 2008 at 3:57 pm

Oh, by the way. People ing about downloadable cities… that’s speculation. The author is pointing out a magazine article that’s guessing about what could be in the DLC. Neither Microsoft or Rockstar has said anything about getting new cities. The magazine says Rockstar is Hinting at something… uh huh… and every hint you’ve ever gotten has been dead on to what you thought it was? The most I’d expect is new cars, missions, characters, maybe a weapon or two, with a possibility of adding a smaller section to the city that has an active part in the new missions.

Mr Greensleeves

On April 18, 2008 at 4:38 pm

i agree with “billy bob” here, this article is pure speculation at most, there will be downloadble episodes for sure for 360 for hang-mans noose, but from news ive been reading off realible sources (gamestop, ign) ) PS3 say there will be “some type of content” which is annoying as there is no sure fire answer.

Again i will say

PS3 is for graphics and big games (and thats if the developers are brave enough to code it)
360 is for the good amount of games to choose from and the online play
Wii is mostly for family & kids

The 360 i have at the moment works fine, i have an elite and have had it for almost half a year no glitches or rrod (touch wood) and its much quieter than its latter versions (the white consoles)

My bro owns a PS3 and i love it and loathe it, the online play is frankly poo and could be miles better, but you cant complain at something you get for free.
But the amount of levels in a game on the ps3 are great i played through heavenly sword and it was the best game ive played in a long time (it was the first game that actually satisified my appitite, it was as challenging as Ninja gaiden). i would put it up with the greats of halo and GOW, the console has great potential just not enough people brave enough to make games for it.

Ive had my 360 since day of release and it’s never faltered because I’m not a retard and I find it easy to take care of (good ventilation is the key) .

Xbox Live is like 50 bucks a year and 50x better than PlayStation’s Network, (not to mention around 47 thousand 3 hundred billion 40 trillion times ten add 200 zillion more people have xbox live)

The only reason Xbox live crashed around christmas is because coupled with dashboard updates there was so many ing people playing it. (Something Sony will never have to worry about)

and finally… FLIP THE GIANT CRAB AND ATTACK HIS WEAK POINT FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE!!!111!!1!!!!1!
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACERRRRRRRRR!!!!!11!
bahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha

PS. wtf is up with the retarded first comment by that mentally disabled spedhead PS3 owner…oh wait….

All you silly fanboys. GTA IV for the Super Nintendo has already reached 10 billion preorders and will have over 9000 hours of unique gameplay and the download content will be free. Also, the game will make use of the Super Nintendo’s advanced Mode 7 effects. Cower in fear PS3 and 360 owners.

TommyBoy

On April 19, 2008 at 4:35 am

Lol @ spore

I hope you all know how retarded your being? The exclusive DLC will just be new mission, few new items ETC. This is just an marketing ploy by M$ to get more people to think “OMGZ Teh 360 get whole new citys!” so they will buy the 360 version, even if Rockstar did mention soemthing about future DLC being this big, this particular article is just another way M$ is trying to get more GTA4 sales on the 360.

Seriously! 10 hours extra game play does not mean and entire city!

Matt

On April 19, 2008 at 8:58 am

Most Intelligent guy here…you are a fuktard.

I own both and have had the 360 replaced 4 times….the ps3 hasn’t failed once. It has nothing to do with how you take care of it…it has everything to do with the units are pieces of crap.

Sure the 360 and Live is better than the ps3 at almost every turn (except hardware) but who cares when you have to own more than 1 of them in order to play everyday….I still own 2 of them and they sit in a box….when something good comes out like fable2 I’ll look at playing them again…until I’ll use the crappy interface of the ps3 and there somewhat crappy playstation network….it is free so I can’t complain…oh and it works everytime!

It will be interesting to see what the DLC for this game really is….from the looks of other games…the 360 will probably have way more than the ps3.

Billy Bob Bo Jangles

… Dude, Video games are a good thing. They allow us to rid ourselves of the stress that builds up at work or in our personal lives. I’d rather be the guy who’s pissed off and shooting people in a first person shooter or running people over in GTA that the nut who beats his girlfriend and shoots a police officer. Then there’s highly Immersive RPG’s that pull us into a story that’s way better than just watching a movie or reading a book, an active role in the plot. Look at Japan, they make most of the good video games and there crime rates are amazingly small compared to most other countries.

i think that like microsoft when they diss blu-ray. sony are just showing how they dropped a big clanger losing out on downloadable content. and unfortunately people with strange loyalities to corporations are buying into this idea that the dlc is going to be missable. it’s cost ms how much 50 mil? and we’re talking about the makers of gta here. i think it’ll be an extra borough and missions. new york is five boroughs the game will have four at release. it’ll be a borough and missions. give us blu-ray NOW microsoft.stick it inside the console!! you will sell more consoles that’s garaunteed.

Mr Greensleeves

On April 23, 2008 at 8:30 am

I think Matt is just one of the unlucky people in this world that have had to replace there 360 too many times, if youre still buying or replacing the core system with another dont bother cause it will rrod or the cd drive will eventually go poo and not read disc properly.

All my friends own a 360 and most of them had a core and it rrod and they had to deal with MS crappy service.

So my friend finally bought an elite and has no problems just as the same as me, seriously buy and elite dont fall for the price drop on the crappy latter versions.

The extra fans and heatsinks and new processor do work, if you were idiotic enough to keep your 360 in a glass case then shame on you any console will over heat and rrod in that environment.

some of you are idiots

On April 26, 2008 at 3:38 pm

I also happen to own a Ps3-360- and a Wii and i can honestly tell you that I dont play my PS3 that much anymore
Now that theyve released the new processors, the 360 runs almost as quite as the PS3 does and there arent any RROD problems anymore either
I got tired of hearing about how awesome some of its exclusive games were going to be and they ended up sucking
Warhawk was changed into online only, I thought Resistance wasnt all THAT good, Heavenly Sword was a God Of War Rip-off

Dont tell me “you forgot _____!” which i know a lot of people are going to say anyway but whatever.

Xbox 360 would be great if it wasn’t going to be obsolete in 3 years. DVD9? Developers had a hard time fitting MGS4 on a Blu-ray (had to cut things out), so good luck having any halfway decent games that don’t span over 5 discs.

Truth

On May 3, 2008 at 3:41 am

I dont know how anyone can even defend the xbox.. Right keep saying its great. the FACT is that if it wasnt for the xbox we wouldnt need DLC. GTA IV was suppose to be MUCH large but due to the limitations of the dual layer dvds xbox uses they had to cut the game down. xbox is at its life end, the ps3′s blue ray disks can support large, more detailed games when the xbox simply cant. Oh, and keep telling yourself that LIVE is better than the PS3 network, how much do i pay to play my ps3 online?? $0

GTA 4 is WIKID on ps3 or xbox i think it is out of order that DLC will be xbox only, it actually just shows how you are all controlled by large multi billion dollar companies. In the end it is only a game..

JESUS

On May 10, 2008 at 6:54 pm

I’d just rather enjoy my PS3 for now and wait. Wait and see which console is truly the best.
Anyway, I’d rather go and buy new games than spend 20 bucks on DLC.
Taking your time to download and install them is not worth it when all you’re getting is more building clones, and new “cars.”
Most of the cars look the same, anyway.

Also, I have the PS3 version of the game, and that place is HUGE. I don’t see how ANYONE will be able to explore that whole city. If you have time to do that, you must know your city (or suburban little town) VERY well.
I’ve done about 40 missions and I’m still at 30 percent.

Yeah I know what there about infact who ever reads this is one lucky son of a *****. New city is going to be a village where Niko was born and where you will kill the guy that Niko “owns” money to. GTA5 is going to be in Vice City with a Retire Soldier who all his friends and his girlfriend left him and he cant find a job (plus he was very well trained to kill) as the main character (this soldier was a pilot) Witch allows R* to make planes.By the way the new Vice City will be triple the bigger then LBC. How do I know this? Lets just say a stupid % of R* was bought by another company and fired BUNCH of people.Well GTA6 will be about SA and as you can imagine 7 times bigger than LBC.

Jason L

On June 30, 2008 at 3:52 am

When you think about it, the only possibility for the DLC is an entirely new city. If it was just some extra missions carrying on from the story it wouldnt really work because the ending to GTA IV is different depending on your choices. So it would have to be an entirely new story in a new city. OR possibly the DLC will just bring some new safehouses and businesses that you can buy where you have to do missions for them, just like in vice city.

James

On July 5, 2008 at 10:49 am

I’ve had my Xbox-360 for 3 years and it has not once failed on me. So the people having to buy like 3 new ones must be doing something wrong. I don’t care how much the new DLC will cost I’m still getting it. I think it would be cool if they released the cities. Or add some stuff they had in GTA:SA like customizable cars/bikes and more clothes.

On August 27, 2008 at 3:49 am

Salsal, what’s your point? MGS 4 is comparable to Fable 2. Even the developers said it would take years to fit it onto a PS3 because of it’s limitations. The PS3 may have blu-ray, but it can’t utilize the system at all because of it’s limited system.

Well I Hate To Be The One To Say That New Cities Jammed Into A 10 Hour Expansion Might Not Hold Up. Oblivion Has Done It Before But They Have Retail Disk In Which You Can Actually Buy From A Retail Store. A Downloadable Expansion Might Not Have The Strength To Go As Far As That. There Where Confirmed Achievements That Has Been Added And I Believe New Vehicles As Well. I Of All People Would Love To Roam Around A New City With NB But Seeing That It Is As Rare As It Is, I Not Getting My Hopes Up And Neither Should You

When I heard ‘whole new cities’, I made a little squeaking noise in my throat instead of words. That’s how awesome this is. Maybe the DLC will be set before GTA:IV, in Niko’s home country. Immigrant smuggling missions, warfare, crazy Russians. Or maybe some Asian city like Tokyo or Kyoto (anyone ever noticed that those two are anagrams of eachother?). Or maybe a city like San Vanelona in Skate., a city made out of a bunch combined.

/end of long-winded comment.

And to all the people who’re complaining about 360 vs. PS3…I just say SHUT THE HELL UP AND LET US TALK ABOUT THE ARTICLE!

I agree with ‘Billy Bob Bo Jangles’ in his comment about how the discussion should be about the console and not the games. What most people do not realize is that the programming of video games is burdened with proprietary nonsense and property rights. Even third-party game programmers must buy the rights to libraries that would allow them to make use of the best graphics and sounds from their respective platforms. The xBox doesn’t have to do this as much because their whole team is owned and employed by Microsoft while the Sony crew, and third-party game manufacturers, must hire their own teams of programmers, with the best ones already taken by Microsoft. Sadly, if we removed all the negative, brainless, immature comments on this page we would probably only have a small list of relevant issues to further this debate.
