GTA V Now Likely For 2013 Launch, Analysts Say
When Rockstar unveiled the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V last fall, the Internet asploded with interest. Fans picked over every single detail – yep, we did too – trying to figure out what the game is about. The primary discussion was over the identity of the protagonist, but some astute viewers came up with the crazy theory that Rockstar snuck a May, 2012 release date easter egg into the commercial. That was admittedly crazy, but only in its specificity. The gaming world at large agreed that it would come out in 2012, with some analysts pegging it to some time before before E3.
Sadly for those of us itching for a return visit to Los Santos, it’s looking increasingly unlikely that we’ll see the new Grand Theft auto before the Mayan apocalypse happens. Analyst group Sterne Agee, who previously predicted it would be launch sometime before Christmas, 2012, has now shifted their estimate, predicting that we probably won’t get it until March, 2013. The group went on to suggest that this would be more beneficial for Rockstar, as GTA V wouldn’t have to compete with games like BioShock Infinite and Assassin’s Creed 3, though to that one only needs to remind them that a GTA game is likely to smash all competition regardless of release cycle.
Obviously, Rockstar has remained silent on the question of GTA V’s release. They haven’t even released a new trailer. It’s possible they’ll return to E3 after a 2 year break to show off GTA V in development; if so, Game Front will be on the scene.
