GTA 5 Release Date Announced

In what may be the most anticipated announcement of 2013, Rockstar has revealed the release date for Grand Theft Auto V. The long-awaited open-world title will hit stores on September 17, 2013.

In a post on the Rockstar Blog, the company apologized for the delay, saying,

We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.

This announcement comes in the wake of an investor preview released yesterday, in which Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter predicted that the GTA V release date would be announced next week, and that the game would be released in May of this year. In some internal conversations, many of us at Game Front agreed with that assessment.

So, we’ll have to wait until September for GTA V. Maybe we’ve got time to play through the previous games before then. You know, for science.

Polish… for a pc release and for next gen consoles not the outdated, near dead current gen. By september a new console will be out and no1 wants to pay £40 for an old gen game. Lets hope it will be something like that. Not for a few glitches that could have been resolved by a patch!

@screwtheconsole – no1 will buy it???? Do u know wat franchise ur talking about here??? Not only that even if a new console came out, the majority of people still own 360s and ps3……I don’t think they’ll have a problem selling it to them. O yea and it’s GTA dumb. Old gen…….have u seen screenshots of GTA 5? The game looks next gen on the current consoles. When the new consoles come out it will take some time for people to get used to developing for it so the graphics aren’t going to be a huge difference right at the beginning. U gotta remember This generation and how long it took for the consoles to hit their strides. I am gladly waiting 4 months if GTA 5 comes out better for it.

People are sheeps..they will still get the game. And I think Rockstar is playing safe because they already have an established user base with millions of people already owning 360 and ps3. If they release this game for a new console then they risk their sales because the new console might not sell right away. That or they will have to wait another year for the enough people to own the new consoles. Also I am thinking the PC release will happen around 7-8 months after. Its fine as long as they don’t make a ty PC port like the last time. Seriously, they should make a proper port or just don’t release at all for the PC. Its a game, I am sure people will get over it.

@screwtheconsole First of all I wouldn’t call the current gen systems near dead. They still have games coming out and there is no release date for the next gen system yet and we may not have a date until 2014. Secondly what’s wrong with a little polish. I don’t want to have to wait for a patch that may come on release day or later on.
