Guild Wars 2 Isn’t about Grinding

More good news for anyone interested in Guild Wars 2: the game is being designed around ensuring players are having fun right now, rather than preparing to have fun later. The game’s quest system offers objectives as players wander the world, encounter creatures, or find other players fending off attackers, and seeks to remove the grind of picking up objectives from town NPCs.

On their blog, the GW2 developers wrote:

Our games aren’t about preparing to have fun, or about grinding for a future fun reward. Our games are designed to be fun from moment to moment.

The developers went on to say:

If you hate MMOs, you’ll really want to check out Guild Wars 2.

That’s a… peculiar thing to say. If you’re an MMO fan, wouldn’t that statement turn you off Guild Wars 2? I mean, if you weren’t already in love with it.
