Guild Wars 2 Lost Shores Weekend Event Is Live, Bring Your Friends

Guild Wars 2 saw a big patch yesterday that introduced a new fractal dungeon, a new PvP map, and a new one-time event that starts today. The Lost Shores event kicks off this afternoon with the city of Lion’s Arch besieged by, well, giant crustacean things sporting gaping mouths lined with sharp teeth. Defeat the invading creatures to save the town and possibly your sanity. Bonus: crab cakes for everyone!

The event culminates in a battle against the king boss crabstrosity on Sunday with never-to-be-seen-again rewards. If you are looking for some help in this event, ArenaNet has introduced a refer-a-friend program that will allow newbies to play for free just for this weekend.

The other interesting feature introduced this week is the idea of the fractal dungeon. It is a set of 9 mini-dungeons that are randomly ordered each time you attempt them. The further you get, the better your rewards. This looks like a cool twist on the ubiquitous hard mode instancing other MMO’s do with their dungeons.

The Lost Shores event has already started so get in while you can. Because, seriously, who is going to get a good night’s sleep until these nightmare creatures from the ocean’s depths are defeated and served with hot butter?

Tried it, not bad especially for no subscription cost. Won’t say i was blown away or anything but not too bad.
