Guild Wars 2 to Introduce New PvP Mode With Spirit Watch
This new map is norn-themed and is surrounded by sheer cliffs and shrines to the Spirits of the Wild.
According to the developer, the map is an attempt to combine established conquest gameplay with capture-the-flag, with players battling over a glowing Orb of Ascension in place of a flag at the center of the map. It’s designed for vertical play, and battles are expected to take place over bridges, valleys, and cliff sides.
At the beginning of each round, the Orb of Ascension spawns at an altar in the center of the map, and players who grab it can claim it at any one of three capture points located up in the surrounding cliffs. Players with the Orb will have full access to most of their skills (sans stealth or swiftness buffs), but move at a 40% speed penalty.
When the Orb is brought to a capture point, the Spirit of the Wild ascends, scoring points for your team. If your team controls the point, you’ll get double the amount.
