Guitar Hero III Xbox 360 Achievements

Plastic Guitar God

As most of you know, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was released at 12am this morning. Many across the country, including yours truly, waited in line at local Gamestop stores to get their Guitar Hero fix. Sacrificing sleep for the greater good, many of these plastic guitar weilding heroes would be rocking away into the wee hours of the morning.

After investing about 3 and a half hours into the game already, I’ve progressed quite far. To be honest, the game is rather easy (for me) up until the 7th set; then the difficulty starts to ramp up… almost exponentially. In fact, I had somehow managed to avoid failing a single song up until the 7th set. I’m currently stuck at Living Color – ‘Cult of Personality’. Let me tell you, the main shredding solo in that song is pure insanity. It seems like Jordan all over again. Grrr. I can’t wait to get to the 8th set.

Anyway, along with the release of GH3 for Xbox 360 are those lovely/maddening achievements. Yes, you’ll be happy to know that Neversoft/Activision have upped the achievement count in GH3 to 59. Some of them will require playing online ranked matches via Xbox Live. One of them requires you to beat a GH3 developer. Of course, returning are most of the familiar GH2 achievements. Some of the newer achievements are rather silly (Button Masher), while others seem near impossible (Enlightened Guitarist).

There are also three ‘secret’ achievements. Well… I wouldn’t call them achievements per se. More like unachievements. If you want to spoil what they are, check this thread out over at ScoreHero.

With that said, I’ve gathered a list of all the achievements for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, as according to Xbox Live. The arrangement is as follows:

(Achievement) – (Description) [GamerPoints]

You can check them out after the break.

Looked at the secret achievements…funny, but, I thought achievements were for, you know, ACHIEVing things. Not…well, not. Ahwell. Can’t decide to get the Wii or 360 version. Recommendations? I know the Wii one is a few quid cheaper, but, more likely a chance of better DLC on the 360.

If I had a choice, I’d get the 360 version, because I see more games I want to play for 360 than the Wii.

I am happy that I went with the 360, yes the Wii was cheaper, and graphics really aren’t critical in this game (do your notes really need to be in High Def when they are going by so fast you can barely hit em?). Plus now I can play co-op without making sure anyone brings their axe. Of course the visitor will be stuck with that POS Xplorer. The new Les Paul rules. Long Live the 360, down with PS3!!

definitely 360 version, more people to play online with, better graphics, and btw 2 of the secret achievements are 1. fail a song passed 90% completion and 2. fail any song 10 times

Just wanted to say one thing in response to your comment about “silly” achievement,s namely the button masher one. I have played with the controller since GH2, as my friend took over teh Xplorer, and I can play expert on both the controller and guitar. I do not find it silly as I know that it actually takes some time and effort, as well as skill. I got that achievement playing on Expert, but you can get it on easy if you want. I use the controller for some songs, guitar for others, depends on the song…

how come theres no achievements for Wii?

There aren’t any achievements for Wii because the achievement thing is just a way to show your gamerscore for all games on the Xbox 360.
