Habbo Teams with Double Fusion on In-Game Ads

Habbo virtual worlds will soon be featuring in-game advertisement from Double Fusion after an exclusive agreement between the two companies. Habbo has communities in 32 countries on six continents and logs 2.4 million unique visitors per month.

“Double Fusion has built a name and a reputation for itself among advertisers and agencies for delivering immersive and engaging brand experiences inside of virtual environments in games,” CEO Jonathan Epstein told GamesIndustry.biz.

“The Habbo partnership represents our first, but not our only, expansion into what we view as the other side of the coin of gaming, which is virtual worlds.”

Double Fusion is by no means shifting to catering to virtual worlds. The company recently signed an agreement with NCSoft to cover City of Heroes.

Double Fusion is also courting another virtual world and is currently under a NDA with Sony’s Home online community.

“We would be phenomenally interested in helping Sony and its partners monetise the Home environment,” Epstein said.

I recognize that in-game advertising is a necessary evil. Hopefully Habbo will pass on some of the profits it nets from this arrangement to gamers in the form of lower fees and more features.
