Half-Life 2 Mod — The Stanley Parable

Here’s a source engine mod that’s been receiving great feedback, even heralded as an artistic masterpiece. The Stanley Parable is an experimental narrative-driven first person game. To quote the author, “It is an exploration of choice, freedom, storytelling and reality, all examined through the lens of what it means to play a video game. ”

The author goes on to state that the play experience is best if you go into it without knowing any details, so allow me to simply highlight some of the feedback this peculiar mod has received:

Fantastic mod. While it wasn’t the prettiest, it was mind bending.

Absolutely brilliant.

Just amazing.

Incredible. Dare I say this is more original than Portal, and more meaningful than Braid?

If you have an open mind and are willing to play a game in which filling meat sacks with lead isn’t the main objective, then this is clearly something you should try.

Wasn’t all that impressed by it. Really not much going on besides some narration.

Screw Braid. That game isn’t meaningful.
