J.J. ABRAMS TO DIRECT HALF-LIFE FEATURE FILM FOR PARAMOUNT PICTURES IN THEATERS SUMMER 2015

HOLLYWOOD, CA, February 15, 2013 – “Half-Life,” one of the most popular and well-received franchises in the history of video games, makes its big screen debut under the creative vision of J.J. Abrams, the force behind “Star Trek,” “Lost” and “Mission Impossible III” for Paramount Pictures.

J.J. Abrams and Valve co-founder Gabe Newell will produce. The film will begin shooting this fall for a Summer 2015 release.

“Ever since I played Half-Life in 1998, I’ve wanted to add lens flares to it,” said Abrams. “And when I heard the G-Man speak for the first time, I knew I needed to get that major creeper Christopher Walken to play the role.”

Gabe Newell said, “J.J. and I couldn’t agree on whether Hugh Laurie or Adam Savage should play the part of Gordon Freeman, so we compromised: Savage will be Laurie’s stunt double.”
