Halo 3 "Believe" Trailer & Making Of The Diorama

Halo 3 “Believe” Trailer (HD – WMV) [75 MB]

As if that Halo 3 War Veteran Trailer posted a few days ago wasn’t awesome enough, we now get a couple of more similar Halo 3 videos to gawk at. The “Believe” trailer (above) is a minute-and-a-half dialog-free diorama (or diarrhea, as the would-be anti-Halo trolls would dub it) of what looks to be the battle of all battles in a Halo universe (the battle hinted by the War Veteran previously). The sheer amount of detail that went into this is nuts (see “Making of The Diorama” below). Even if you loathe the very existence of Halo and its fandom, this trailer is still worth a look if just for artistic merit. I highly recommend downloading the HD version of the “Believe” trailer to truly grasp the sheer amount of detail involved.

These new advertisements from Microsoft/Bungie are a bit of a deviation, as far as video game trailers go, as they are not exactly showing any Halo 3 gameplay per-say. With a game like Halo 3 and its mega-hype, there really isn’t anything new that people haven’t already heard or seen by now. So why make an actual game trailer? Halo 3 is gonna sell billions, regardless. So I view these new trailers more as gifts, even if the intent is still advertisement.

Ironically, these new Halo 3 non-gameplay trailers end up being a nice treat for all to enjoy (not just gamers too). It certainly gives the viewer a sense of awe above what is normally felt when watching anything video game related. I certainly got the Band Of Brothers type feeling when I saw the War Veteran Trailer. This just goes to show how truly Epic Halo 3 is going to be.

Don’t forget to check out the Making Of The Diorama below, especially if you were impressed with the detail that went into making the John 117 monument. As Kotaku discovered earlier, the artists involved in making the diorama had no idea how Halo 3 ends. So the scene does not necessarily represent the game’s plot, which again, points to artistic merit (albeit a marketing ploy). The diorama stands 12 feet tall and contains a myriad of 8 to 19-inch hand-crafted figures. Anyway, the video is much more interesting that my banter.

Ummm i loved the two trailers but according to xbox.com.. the diorama IS a battle you fight in Halo 3… it is probably around the 7th level.

I REALLY HOPE THIS IS NOT THE LAST LEVEL.

It could be the 7th I remember bungie saying this, and i would be alright with it. But I would be furious to no end if this was the last level…

Looks like humanity is saved, and master chief dies, I really dont want it to end this way though. The trailers were both good but the second could have been a little better.

Where is the diorama located ATM, at Bungie HQ ?

    Straight from Bungie.net

“Despite its near-flawless handiwork and stunning detail, make sure you note that the Diorama is not Canon, and cannot be used as Halo fact. The makers of the set (yes, it is real) have little or no knowledge of Halo 3; this spectacular display was created for promotional purposes. Currently, it is possible that the diorama may be taken on tour throughout the country, so show your support for it and its creators.”

The forum thread for it is here:

    Beware of spoilers, obviously.

Going back a few messages, as they say its Chopins’ Raindrop Prelude. The middle section of the Prelude is the bit used on the trailer.

It is definitely Chopin’s Prelude in D-Flat Major aka ‘Raindrop’ – a beautiful piece of music.

I about died from happiness when I first saw the trailer and heard Chopin’s sonata… and now I get here and you are all talking about it!!! I guess you video game geeks are good for something…just kidding! After all, I’m an even bigger nerd who almost creamed herself over a piece of music.
