Halo 3 Preorder Sales Top 1 Million; New Promotions Announced
Microsoft has announced that the highly anticipated Halo 3 has passed the 1 million milestone in North America shattering many previous records. Microsoft isn’t content to rest on its laurels. It’s announcing even more upcoming promotions from leading consumer brands, including Mountain Dew, 7-Eleven, Pontiac, Comcast and Burger King Corp.
Retailers worldwide are taking preorders for all three versions of Halo 3; Standard Edition, Limited Edition and the ultra-collectible Legendary Edition. Presales are the fastest in video game history. So fast, that retailers believe the Legendary Edition will be sold out by the game’s launch September 25.
For the first time in video game history, major consumer brands are aligning with Microsoft to offer Halo 3 themed merchandise, contests and events befitting a major motion picture release.
You’ve heard about the upcoming release of Mountain Dew Game Fuel which has been shipped and is waiting to be stocked for August 13th. In select markets Mountain Dew will also be offering a special-edition aluminum bottle of Mountain Dew Game Fuel with an exclusive design created by Bungie Studios in very limited quantities. It’s sure to be a highly sought after collectors item.
There are many more Halo 3 products and events you can look forward to. 7-eleven will be offering Halo 3 collectible Slurpee cups. It will also be running a promotion with Mountain Dew and Doritos offering several Halo 3 themed prizes including one grand prize; the chance to have a small voice acting role in the upcoming Halo Wars game for the Xbox 360.
Pontiac will be sponsoring Gamer Garage events in select locations where players will have a chance to play Halo 3 before it launches. It’s also celebrating the launch of its high-performance G6 GXP Street by giving 1,000 customers the chance to win a copy of the game and giving away a limited-edition Halo 3 G6 GXP Street car as a grand prize.
Burger King will be running Halo 3 promotions from Sept.24 to Oct. Starting Sept.23. Through Halo 3 packaging, BK will be offering online access to exclusive content by logging on to http://www.bk.com/halo3. Custom graphics will be featured on packaging including 42oz. drink cups and King FRYPODs.
Comcast will be getting in on the action, offering exclusive Halo 3 video content on its Web sites http://gameinvasion.net and http://www.ziddio.com. Offerings will include user generated movies and machinima as well as standard and high-definition Halo 3 videos on its signature ON DEMAND service.
Halo 3 is the official sponsor of the Projekt Revolution tour this summer. Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance are some of the bands participating in the tour. Concert goers can look forward to exclusive Halo 3 VIP events in select cities on the
tour, where they will receive Halo 3-themed merchandise and have the chance to meet the members of Linkin Park.
