Halo 5: Guardians Revealed for Fall 2015 Release

Halo 5 will be subtitled “Guardians,” and will release in fall 2015, 343 Industries revealed this morning.

In a blog post early this morning, 343 Industries General Manager Bonnie Ross revealed the new title. While the details provided are few, we did learn a few things that are going to make most Halo fans very happy.

  • Halo 5 runs at 60 frames per second.
  • It has dedicated servers.
  • It’s built for the Xbox One from the ground up on a brand new, more powerful engine.

It’s no surprise that there won’t be a version of Halo 5 for the Xbox 360. Two years is an awfully long time to hope for cross-gen games, especially for a title that could possibly be the most important game to land on the platform since launch. Call of Duty may sell systems, but Halo and Xbox have been intertwined ever since Microsoft stopped producing PC versions of its flagship shooter.

You can expect that Halo 5 will be the closing title at Microsoft’s E3 2014 presser on June 9, and we’ll be there to keep you up to date with everything that’s happening at the show.
