Harmonix Bringing “Significant News” to E3

Harmonix has taken an interesting path through life. They were independent, and then their partnership with RedOctane on Guitar Hero led Viacom to buy them, for which they made a bunch of Rock Band games and Dance Central, and now they’re independent again.

So the news that they’re bringing something to E3 — per an IndustryGamers interview with Greg LoPiccolo — is a big deal because whatever it is will be their first ‘solo’ thing in over a decade.

What could this be? Well, it could be just about anything short of another rhythm game, I would think. It could be Dance Central 2, but that doesn’t seem like something that would need an E3 announcement. Remember that they made that EyeToy hoverboard game for PS2 way back when, so they aren’t limited strictly to musical things. Maybe they’re actually making something cool for Kinect. Hmmm.
