Has Activision Lost Publishing Rights For Bond Games?

Well here’s some weird happenstance. It seems all of Activision’s recent James Bond licensed titles – The Quantum of Solace adaptation, Blood Stone, and the recent 007 Legends – have up and disappeared from Steam. What the what?

Astute Steam users first noticed the caper, noting not only that these games are no longer available on Steam, but that all trace that they ever were is gone too. Not even a note saying ‘this title has been removed.’ And if that wasn’t enough, they’re gone from the official Activision store too. Check out what happens when you search ‘James Bond’.

So what gives? Well, for starters, all three games kind of sucked, and none of them sold well. Im fact, 007 Legends sold so poorly – a fact I attribute in part to Activision’s blatantly ripping off fans by removing the final segment from the game and selling it as DLC after release – that the studio who made it went out of business. Perhaps MGM finally got wise and realized that Activision is kind of defecating all over Bond in their video games, and have not renewed the license.
