Hawken to Launch With Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Compatibility

The Kickstarter campaign for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset is coming to a close in three days and has raised almost 1000% of its target goal with $2,055,066 as of this writing. What kind of games will you be able to play with the Oculus? Hawken, for one.

Check out the announcement video:

I’ll never forget an experience I had almost twenty years ago, visiting some form of arcade in which I sat inside what amount to a closed-in cockpit in order to pilot a virtual mech. I thought that was the closest I’d ever get to feeling like I was really piloting a giant war machine — if the Oculus Rift is as good as everyone says it is, I was so very, very wrong.

I am actually really ecstatic about this, I can’t wait. However, now I might’ve missed this or something, but How will you be able to fire your gun in a mech? In general actually what kind of controls/controller will oclus come qith, will it be it’s own system tie-in. Or a pc or console add on?

The Oculus is not a game system, it’s no different than the myriad of “VR” systems already on the market, except far better due to resolution and FOV. You’ll plug it in to your PC and watch the game displayed on the Oculus instead of your monitor.
