HD Resident Evil Will Be Re-Released in 2015

Capcom will be remastering the Gamecube remake of Resident for re-release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

The newversion of the game was announced today in a release from the company stating its hopes to expose a new generation of gamers to the classic title by improving its visuals with “the latest resolution enhancement and 3D model technology.” This tech will apparently be used to upgrade the game’s graphics to a point where they can attractively support 1080p on current and last-gen consoles.

The new versions will apparently also include new options for alternative control schemes and display options to give players more control over how they experience the game. The new remaster will be launching in North America and Europe as a downloadable title in “early 2015.”

While many fans will likely be surprised by this re-release, it’s a move that arguably makes sense in light of some of the criticisms that have been plaguing the game since it began moving further and further away from its horror roots. That in mind, Capcom also hinted last year that the series could see a return to form in the future, something this re-release could be a part of.
