Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro Will Make New Silent Hill

Hideo Kojima and film director Guillermo del Toro are collaborating on a new Silent Hill title.

The new game, titled Silent Hills, was revealed in an interactive teaser announced by Sony today at GamesCom and released as a free download on the PlayStation Store. It was later discovered that the demo, dubbed P.T. by Sony, closes with a final scene revealing the player character to be actor Norman Reedus. The names Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro then appear on screen. An additional title card, backed by the Silent Hill theme music, revealed the game’s title.

While the full nature of Silent Hills is still somewhat foggy, this announcement is still likely to be seen by many as exciting news. While Del Toro, of course, hails from the film sector, Kojima is well known for his work on the Metal Gear Solid series and has indicated in the past that Silent Hill would be a personal dream project.

Didn’t Kojima also work on the first 4 Silent Hill games?

Anyway, this is great news, the franchise has strayed from the path and if there are two people that can put it back again, it’s those two guys.

Also, what’s with the picture of Darryl?

Check the article, he’s the main character. (Norman Reedus)

I’d rather see them start a new horror IP. Silent Hill is damaged goods now, there’s still some decent titles in the series but their constant attempts at reimaginings and reboots haven’t worked before and it’s unlikely to work now.

Yeah, I noticed, I don’t know how I missed it the first time.
