Homefront: The Revolution Screens Show Off the Resistance

The first screens from Homefront: The Revolution have been released, giving us a glimpse of the upcoming shooter from Crytek.

Crytek purchased the rights to Homefront when THQ went under, and ever since, we’ve been waiting to see what the studio behind Crysis would do with the game. This morning, they announced Homefront: The Revolution.

The new Homefront will drop you into the streets of Philadelphia in the aftermath of the Korean takeover. You’ll be part of the resistance once again; tasked with building up your numbers and fighting what the press release calls “the Second War for Independence.”

In place of the multiplayer battles of the original game, Crytek has created a four-player online co-op mode that will let you form a “Resistance cell” with 3 friends.

Set to release in 2015 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, this new Homefront will have to make a fairly big splash to wash away the disappointment the first installment generated. But hey, maybe you can at least feel important this time.

We’ll have our preview of the game later today, but to tide you over, here are the first screenshots Crytek has released.

How Homefront can get a sequel while games like Ristar, Dynamite Headdy, Hogs of War, Haven, The Saboteur and countless others never got one is an injustice. A bland, glitchy shooter, so what?

@Gutter – Just as an aside, I’d play the hell out of a sequel to The Saboteur.
