Homeworld Remastered Will Support 4K Resolution

Gearbox’s Homeworld Remastered collection will support 4K resolution.

Company founder Randy Pitchford confirmed this detail at the studio’s PAX East 2014 panel. According to Pitchford, all PCs capable of running the game in 4K will have the option of doing so. He went on to additionally describe ways in which the classic RTS series had influenced some of Gearbox’s development decisions in past games. The camera controls in the Brothers in Arms series, for instance, were apparently inspired by Homeworld’s highly controllable camera.

The company also used its panel as an opportunity to unveil one of the items it will be including in the collector’s edition of Homeworld Remastered: a 12-inch tall, USB powered and LED lighted replica of the game’s mothership. Gearbox asked fans back in March to choose between 6-inch and 12-inch statues. The scales clearly tilted toward the 12-inch side. Homeworld Remastered is expected to launch in Autumn 2014.

I loved homeworld. I still have the disc laying around here somewhere.

I’m super excited to see how this pans out!
