How Are Infinity Ward Like the Matrix Architect?

There’s been lots of news recently coming out Call of Duty XP, the fan convention that recently went down in LA. We’ve played host to tournament winners, pre-order bonuses, and an enticing multiplayer trailer.

In addition to the positives, however, some people have gotten a distinctively negative impression. Namely, they think that Modern Warfare 3 isn’t sufficiently different from its predecessors. Some wag in this complaining camp ginned up the delightful image below, which casts the Infinity Ward dev team as the Matrix: Revolution’s white-bearded Architect. Is the creator of this image implying that Bobby Kotick wants to harness Call of Duty players as a biological power source to fuel his plans for robotic world domination? We can only speculate.

I’ve been saying it since Modern Warfare 2.

So begins the end for these people, I can only hope. And maybe once it fails they will do what needs to be done, and redesign it from the ground up. New engine, new everything. Take it back to WW2 as well, I’ll do that again. Why not take us to some new places, WW2 was faught all over and most campaigns don’t get into the island conflicts.
