How Rock Band Saved a Marriage

rock band

Before you start thinking that this post will be about another woman bitching to high heaven about her man being addicted to videogames instead of her, you are only half right. Over on Salon.com a lady does indeed rant (after droning on and on about dating musician) about how her husband is addicted to videogames and ignores her for hours on end until  – gasp! – they purchase Rock Band and become a happy couple once more. Well good for them, now they are both addicts.

As Patrick over on Videogaming247 hilariously put it:

This is a bit like marrying a man who “likes drugs”, not being so keen when the honeymoon’s over, then giving into to the fact heroin’s great and sharing a love for brown powder and dirty needles while waltzing into the sunset. Well done you, woman.

You know, I consider myself a feminist to a point, and I am all for “girl power” but there is nothing I hate worse than some whiny woman full of self importance who throws a temper tantrum anytime she does not get her way. Thankfully, this one did not complain too awful much but I was sure as hell expecting it to turn into a crying sack of “oh poor pitiful me” crap any minute.

seems like rock band is just a temporary fix. they have communication issues and their marriage is doomed. better to split now and move on.. no reason for people to be unhappy. why quit video games if you like them? why be with someone who plays too much if you’re not happy? people just enjoy suffering.

also, i have rock band. you’ll get tired of it. i did.

haha. that’s just what i was thinking when i read first read that article. but yeah, if video games are that much of a problem, there’s probably some deeper issues there.

I read this on Yahoo and even thought, what are they going to do after they get bored? It will just start up again unless they pick up Gears of War 2 Coop or something.

It is really great to know that my wife and I are not the only couple out there spending quality time with each other playing a video game. We play together not because she is mad but because we both have a really good time working together as a team. She plays the bass on medium but is getting better all the time working through world tour mode. fun stuff…maybe this couple can work it out long term. Relationships just take time to work and this is a great way to spend time together.
