How to Enable the RAGE Dev Console

RAGE‘s PC release is a mess, but fixes are slowly trickling out onto the Internet that can help with the game’s many graphical problems. One thing you can do is jump into the game’s developer console and start making tweaks there.

Here’s a quick step-by-step of how to enable the dev console. After which, hit this thread in the Steam Forums for lots of suggestions on how to mess around with your graphical settings.

  1. For Steam users, first, right-click RAGE in your Library and select “Properties.”
  2. Hit the button marked “Launch Options.” Input this piece of code (without the quotes): “+set com_allowconsole 1″
  3. Fire up the game and in the main menu, hit the ~ (tilde) key.
  4. That should pull down the dev console. Start enabling stuff!

@jeebus? What version of the game do you have? There is no non-steam version that I am aware of.

For non steam its the same except you add the command on to the end of the launch code. Right click on the game icon. Click on properties. there should be a launch code like “c:\program files(x86)” or something like that. Just cut and paste the “+set com_allowconsole 1″ without quotes on the end.

Hey,
The shortcut for the console can be the “ù” key (works for me with french keyboard)…
Hope it’s helpful!

If ~ does not work, just try another key.
If you cut and copy “+set com_allowconsole 1″ correctly, there is any problem.
+1 for “ù” for french people ;)
