iBuyPower Shows Off Steam Machine Prototype

Valve’s in-development Steam Machines will come in different shapes and sizes. The folks at iBuyPower are ready to share what their’s will look like and, fittingly, the two prototype Steam Machines are codenamed Gordon and Freeman.

Engadget got the scoop from iBuyPower, who said it is prepping its Steam OS-running living room PCs for 2014 launch. The PC maker wasn’t ready to share specs or pricing, but it did say the boxes will play all Steam games in 1080p and running at 60 FPS. Expect more details and an official unveiling at CES 2014, which begins on January 7. For now, here’s how Gordon and Freeman are shaping up:

Fancy. I was expecting something much more subdued. Not so sure about that big green light, though.

Looking forward to seeing how other PC makers craft Steam Machines of their own. This year’s CES should be fun.

I’m really bffelad by all these builds that say take psi blades at 1. Refraction is much better defensively, so you can almost never get level one ganked if you react quickly. Furthermore, the pierce damage is low´╗┐ because you don’t have much damage at level 1 AND you don’t have the refraction bonus damage. Getting to level 2 is very quick and then you can get psi blades. Doing level one refraction and then popping it once also allows you to get easy last hits to get farm, which is better anyway.

Yeah, it’s just that psi blades is pterty much awesome, you get a little bit extra range and you get the spill damage, so while you are last hitting and denying, if you lineup right, you are always damaging your lane opponent. Pretty sweet. The rest of the build was fine, but you can farm a lot faster´╗┐ with 1 level of psi blades, you can one-shot an entire creep wave with the right items and by using meld. =]
